2025 RAM RHO
I need input as I am not sure what happened: Today I was driving down a fairly steep hill and there was a line of cars so it was a bit of stop and go on this incline. As I got to the bottom and getting ready to turn (less gradient/less steep), my car would not go. I look down and the "D" on the dash is blinking. I quickly put it into park and try to go back to drive and I can't move the shifter. I panicked a bit so I can't say I completely remember what I did at this point between putting on my blinkers and seeing a line of cars behind me wondering why I am not moving. I am pretty sure I tried to turn the car off/on 2x and I still could not shift into drive. I did this a few more time and on the last time I made sure to wait a second after the car turned off, and when I powered it back on I was able to shift into gear and drive away.

I have no error lights, I had no CEL, I have nothing. The only thing that popped up and went away was service auto-start/stop (which I literally had disabled anyway so I am not sure how that would be an issue) but that is not there and I have no errors. I ran a health report and it has nothing logged.

Now, maybe there is a good explanation for all of this but I have nothing to bring to the dealer so I don't know how to proceed. On top of all of this, my kids (6 and 4) were in the car with me, and this scared the shit out of me. At this point I am not sure I even want to fuck around with this thing anymore. 1500 miles, a battery issue, several sensor/safety feature issues, and now this...if someone at RAM is monitoring these forums then I hope to god they act soon before something serious happens. As much as I love this truck I think I am going to start looking for something else and move on before any more issues occur.

Sounds scary AND frustrating. The “D” was blinking…odd.

I’ve read a few people are getting new transmissions. One poster commented the fluid analysis was not right, so the dealer was instructed to replace the whole assembly.

I’m right there with you. After 4x service events (one lasting 25+ days) to fix my safety system faults (hopefully), I’ve been told the truck should be reliable for its 1st long road trip…EXCEPT, the batteries could die if the modules keep waking up. So, if I travel 10 miles off-road to a remote trailhead, hike for several hours, I could return to a dead truck. Yeah…glad Ram warned me that was a possibility.

The whole reason I bought this truck was to road trip & reach remote hiking trailheads.

I know we are all biased and tend to be RHO apologists ("first year gremlins blah blah blah, what did you expect, blah, blah, blah, plenty of us have no problems, blah, blah blah ....") but there is NO good explanation for this. I'd be filing a report with NHTSA. Tremendously unsafe.

I will look into that. I don’t have any data to provide them other than anecdotal. Not sure if that matters or not. Also not sure if I should call the dealer and see what they have to say. I just don’t see what they will be able to figure out with no thrown codes.
