I'm posting this as a completely new topic to try and reach the masses. Not sure if this is going to be the fix (or rather band aid) or not, but it's definitely worth trying. I just figured this would be easier to find for those that have already taken delivery and running into the issue, as well as any new members looking for answers for why their batteries are dying. AGAIN, I'm not claiming this is the fix, rather just what I found doing research on the issue!!!!

Apparently at the beginning of the year (2024), RAM was having a huge issue with dead batteries on 1500's, just like what we are experiencing with the RHO. The consensus was to delete the RAM App which was causing the center instrument cluster to stay lit up for a minute, shut off for a minute or so, light back up, off, etc. etc...

Link to that forum post in case you want to read through all the comments.
Dead Battery Issues

I suggested this on the other thread thinking the app keeps a heart-beat to the truck causing the drained battery. Someone said not true as trucks have been delivered to dealer with dead batteries. Not sure if that is true, or maybe leaving the 'digital card' in truck creates a similar heart-beat connecting to truck keeping things lit up. Either way I agree with @Frenzy think its worth a try.

So - delete app and make sure digital card is removed from truck. They can be found in glove box or center console.

Not a fix but more of a workaround until an updated BCM gets released.

What exactly does this RAM app provide and what are we missing out on by deleting it?

RAM app

Biggest thing I could see loosing would be remote start from you phone but you still have the fob that can do this plus it looks like you'd have to pay for that option anyways.

For me personally this will be a loss I'd care about. Very used to this functionality on my GMC. They better get it sorted out soon to where you can have both the advertised features, and a truck that starts.

Agreed

Agree...

I'm paying for everything to work. This is a FAFO situation. For $80K+, this isn't a blindfolded dart game or a "Sorry, we tried" moment.

It works, or they can have it back...

But everything is going subscription based. You may have paid $80k+ for the truck, but you still are going to shell out more $$$ to be able to use the features the app provides. Maybe not for ALL the features, but it sounds like remote start is part of the "pay to play" subscription, I could be wrong though.

Yes I think everyone knew that all along and have no idea why this makes a difference. These features are subscription based for all mfrs except Tesla. I still want it to work when I pay the subscription.

Oh I agree, I want to be able to use it if I want. But, for me it not going to deter me from buying the vehicle. I just wanted to present the information is all.

anybody know both battery sizes?

I'm not talking about subscriptions or paid services...

I'm focused on defects where buyers must jump through hoops to address so our massive personal investment doesn't become a 6400lb driveway paperweight...

No subscription service should fry batteries because the service exists.

I'm not sure if they every came out with an update for the app or not, but it sounds like the original software they used on 1500's from earlier this year is what was loaded onto ours and not an updated version.

I deleted my app…made little to no difference. I’ve not had dead batteries, but I’ve had to run 3 full full external charge cycles in 3 weeks.

My truck arrived at the dealer with batteries that would not charge to minimum voltage. Definitely no app connected at that point. But guessing Ram pushed some updates while it was in storage, which probably wiped out the batteries. Just a guess…

Cant blame you at all, ill start the list, y'all keep it going
-dead batteries/ battery drain
-misfires
- melted cats
-9 months+++ to build
-trim/sunroof rattle
-paint rubbed off at factory by robot arms and rusting
-worst exhaust note of all time

im sure im missing something...lol

I'm curious as to how the app could be causing the battery drain. I have the RAM app for my 2019 Limited and never had an issue. I know that technology has advanced since 19 and there are more systems running in the background. I have a 2021 Indian Challenger that is damn near fully automated but of course a motorcycle battery doesn't compare to a truck battery. One thing that was causing the motorcycle battery to drain was keeping the key fob near it. I think this digital card may be more the culprit if it's used to send signals. Just my thoughts. OAN...no ding to you guys in the built and ready to deliver category but it's very disheartening to see someone who ordered their truck in November have a fully assembled truck, meanwhile my June order still sits unscheduled!! I'm not mad though because I found one at Tyson CDJR that I'll be picking up on Friday!!
