Was driving into work and engine light came on and the engine started acting like it was missing firing and shaking. So now in a parking lot waiting on a tow truck. 2310 miles. I will keep you all posted as to what the dealership says when I get it there When the tow truck showed up the truck would t even start. I think it is a cat issue. Keep you all posted

Was the CEL blinking?

Almost sounds like @Dan G issue he had when it hydrolocked.

The CEI came on solid at first then went away. It then came back on blinking as I was exiting the freeway.

These posts . . . they are depressing me. My truck showed up on the app today - but really questioning delivery . . .

If second batch of cats go bad then we know we have a bigger issue. Sure hope this doesn’t happen.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, ever since Covid it just seems like the parts being used are not as good of quality. I would not be surprised at all if this dude just has bad cats, the same way some people just have bad batteries, or bad modules. I think this just may be the way things go with all manufacturers until something gets figured out. Raptors have issues, Tundras have issues, GMC/Chevy have issues. I don't think all of the sudden people forgot how to make trucks...I think QC is terrible now and they all have to meet the demands of their stock-holders so it is a total shit show. This is just the vibe I am getting. I don't think the trucks were built in such a way that is "bad", but I do think the parts being used are not the best to keep costs low.

100%!!!

So many suppliers went out of business during Covid…new, unproven suppliers have stepped in..and, when big companies put out bids for parts, the lowest bidder typically wins…so, you have new suppliers building newly designed parts for the lowest cost.

Until this gets worked out, probably best to buy from automakers who build most of their own components, like BMW. Too bad BMW does not build an RHO/Raptor competitor. Then again, nobody does pickups like Ram/Chevy/Ford/GMC.

Very true, I came from a bmw x3m...never had a single issue, car was built solid/no cheap plastic, interior didn't rattle...and that car could seriously move. Still not as fun as the RHO though haha.

So just an update, the starter is seized, so once that is replaced, they will be able to run and diagnose the CEL

Interesting, I take it the shop told you that much. No mention of catalytic converters, just seized starter? Sounds like somebody cranked the starter to death. No suck squeeze bang blow. (I feel ya, I miss her too) Most likely fuel or spark and my money is on fuel. I’m reasonably sure it isn’t just out of gas, fuel light and tone are pretty hard to miss. Have they checked the cat’s?

Yea once they get that starter done Ina. Sure it's the cats.

I still say the cats are merely a symptom. There is a fueling problem, most likely. I’ve said it before if you throw enough fuel in the fire, you’re gonna burn the stove down. The cats are nothing more than a waste incinerator.

Stop being a worry wart :). If you focus on these posts, you will always be filled with anxiety.

Get your truck and HAVE FUN!!

Worst thing that can happy with ANY car, is it needs to get towed and fixed. So what. We have had our QC issues and going back n forth isn’t the best time, but it’ll get squared away.

There are literally thousands that don’t have issues.

Happy Saturday!! :)

Chris

It’ll be interesting to see what some of these core issues are, we have 1500 miles with a tune and knock on wood, zero mechanical or electrical issues.
