- 2025 Ram 1500 RHO
My entire life I have been a staunch Ford Truck guy. I loved my F-150s and F-250s I owned over the years. Then came the "Last" Ford F-150 I will ever own. 0-40,000 miles, the truck was good. I went over the 40k mile mark. and $#!t hit the fan. The transmission was rebuilt under the drive train warranty, a wiring hardness issue hit, multiple turbo failures, and the list goes on. Then, to top this off with horrendous service that was not performed but paid for, ended my trust in Ford and Ford Dealerships.
Onward and upward - well, maybe...
I go to Colorado at least once a year. https://www.youtube.com/@rcsaerialimaging777
I want to go deeper into the mountains than I have with the F-150. I swore the next time I purchased a vehicle, it would be able to go over most of the passes in the San Juan Mountains. I am a 107 Pilot, and I go to the San Juans every year to capture the fall colors. I wanted a truck I could take wherever I needed to go. I went searching. On Jan 31, 2025, I located an RHO sitting 20 miles from me, and it was the only one available within 200 miles. I told my wife I was going to "look" at it. I wasn't going to buy it; I just wanted to go look at it.
There are only two vehicles in my life that I got behind the wheel and knew I was taking this one home. The first was my 2013 Volvo S50 T6 R-Design in Passion Red. The second was this beast! I sat down behind the wheel and just knew before starting the engine. Being the last day of the month, the dealership knew they had a salivating buyer. I tried not to show how much I wanted this truck, but it was obviously coming home with me. Operating from the "Ask for forgiveness" model, I must say this was the toughest forgiveness I ever had to ask for, but in the end, I hope it is worth it. If you wonder how I got my plates on it so fast, in Texas, these are DV (disabled veteran) plates, and I signed a license plate transfer from my Ford F-150 to this truck. I called the toll tag agency within the week of purchasing, and the plates had already been switched to the DPS system, so I just put them on.
I took it home, and the errors began, the weird behaviors began, and the truck began throwing U-Connect errors and service-required messages at start-up. The lane monitoring, the blind spot monitoring, and several other things began failing. I could not take it back due to an already paid-for and scheduled install for the K40 Platnium360 with front and rear Laser Defuser Optix transponders. I will never drive without a condom, and so this is always the first thing I put into any vehicle. I was also getting the windows tinted, including the front window for the A1 Line / "Eyebrow" tint. The second this was done, the truck went around the corner to the Dealership where it has sat since. The dealership has no idea how to fix it. It is still sitting in the Service Department, waiting for repair. Almost a month later.
