UPDATE: Technician wants to replace RF hub now…….
UPDATE: New PCM won’t communicate with RF hub.

Well, the Dealer has been trying to get my new PCM installed, but the software download continues to fail. I came across a TSB that stated it was a known issue and it may take up to 10 times to get the software to go through. Anyone Dodge Technicians on there with any words of wisdom? Truck has been down since 2/3 and I would really like to get it back.

So insane to me, do better RAM!

Can anyone explain the RF hub function? Is it just a system that recognizes the key fob, allowing the truck to start?

RFH is the radio frequency hub. Afaik - yes it handles comms with the key.

I haven't seen the TSB where it takes up to 10 times to flash. It's flashed the first time - everytime - successfully for me.

If they installed a new RFH - then it probably has some kind of seed key with the PCM to prevent theft (immobilizer system) And they need to marry the two systems. I haven't done that - so I don't have much advice to give there.

Thanks for the reply. No Hub replacement yet. They tried installing a new PCM and the new PCM will not communicate with the RF Hub. Now they want to throw a RF Hub at it. I don’t have much faith that will fix the truck.

It may be the correct answer. If the RFH isn't communicating - it may be damaged. I've seen them get water damage and fail - then they just don't communicate on the CAN bus.

With 300 miles on my truck, I hope there is no water damage yet but I guess you never know.

It’s ok. The Hub is located under the back window. Prime location for water damage once the window starts to leak.

wasnt there an issue with the new 2500's and 3500's where the 3rd light was leaking water into the cab (I know 2nd gen trucks did this) Maybe the cab design is the same and has the same issue?

Ya. Sounds like New trucks/cabs still do it

just spoke with them. They reached out to the field rep. He stated the RF Hub was fine and the new PCM bricked during programming. They will have to source another PCM. In the meantime I asked that they unplug the RF Hub for a while to reset and then try to program the new PCM again.

I had spoke to a Dealer in Ohio and they mentioned that worked for them. If not, I hope I'm not waiting another 20 days for the 2nd PCM.

If they're going to throw that ecu away - Can I buy it from them and have them ship it to me? I can provide a label :)

And if they have the original one too... that would be a twofer.

lol. I'm sure they have to "keep" it for warranty return.
