Figured I would start a thread related to vehicle weight and things that help reduce weight. As I take apart my RHO I plan on weighing a few things and documenting it here. I have a shipping scale, Intercomp scales (rated at 1,500 per scale), and I stopped at a certified scale on my trip across the US to get the total vehicle weight... with me and all my stuff ~320lbs. 6620lbs - 320lbs = approx. 6,300 with a full tank of fuel. The shipping weight was 6,095 pounds (5 gallons in tank tank (33 gallon tank) 6 pounds per gallon at 28 gallons ~168 pounds) ~ 6,262lbs. So by my best estimates and measurements It's between 6,262lbs and 6,300lbs.

First mod will be a set of Volk TE37's... theoretically weigh 19.4 pounds, but I'll scale them against the factory non-beadlock wheels (supposedly 27 pounds) Might even save some weight with the lug nuts.

I need to hit scales with mine too. Do you know weight of beadlock capable wheels by chance?

This my first custom order, and I'm not sure if sticker weight takes into account factory add-ons like rock sliders.

I haven't removed them yet but have a feeling they don't weigh at all. Real sliders are gonna suck down my available carrying capacity in a not insignificant way.

beadlocks are "supposedly" 42 pounds. But that's just reading the TRX threads. Haven't seen a picture of a scale.

Would be interesting to see difference between level one vs non, if there is any

Cool thread but today, I fully grasped why the pano roof rocks!! Overcast crappy weather…super dark interior…alas…open it up and smiles on me and my wife’s face.

Weight reduction only concerns me when drag racing. This truck while supremely capable is not why I bought it or care.

My 66 Mustang GT would be more appropriate, but even then , I have fun with both and don’t care about 1/10ths of a second.

Just my opinion.

Those rims and some 11 or 12 inch wide lighter tires could be a huge difference since it's rotating mass reduction.

Now if we can find a way to get 2wd or close to it, that would be awesome

Well pleasantly surprised at the massive difference in smoothness. The reduction in wheel weight makes it drive much better and the dampers control the tire much better.

I have the original wheels in the bed of the truck - I need to weigh them tonight.

Next up I’m going to 3D scan the brake rotors to drop some more weight next :)

I’ll check BCM programming in Witech to see if it has an option for Lithium batteries like we had in the Alfas. I have a Lithium battery from the QV I can use in the truck.

F=ma

Less weight improves acceleration in all directions. It seems to have dramatically improved the effectiveness of the dampers. Would recommend.

What’s your purpose? A drag truck, off road truck, I’m not certain what your objective is? Sometimes it’s easy to “beat” the manufacturer, but often times it’s at a reduction of longevity, wear, etc.

I’m not saying the factory is best at everything as I know they sometimes have to make compromises to overcome warranty concerns. Just curious as to what your core objective is. :)

Definitely NOT offroad. He's going for SPEED.

Same here with the pano roof here. I hardly ever open mine, but I just like the extra light it lets in.

Those wheels are hideous

I tune engines and modify vehicles for a living. So yeah, I like fast stuff. Heavy stuff isn’t fast.

I was wondering the same thing. I don't see many people buying 6,000+ lb jacked up trucks because they want a light weight vehicle. Quite confusing to me . . . FWIW, I have an RHO on order with the standard wheels - but have a set of bead locks (oem) on the way to add some more weight! Not saying it's a good thing - but I think they look bad ass!

oEM beadlicks do look badass. When you get your truck delivered and take off a wheel/tire - weigh it and post it here please! We can calculate the oEm tire weight from the data we have already and get an exact weight of the wheel. Just thought of this, but if they stack wheel weights on your barrel like candy on Halloween your wheel weight will vary depending on the tire balance of each tire

Some people like to modify there trucks to realize an actual difference in performance, weight reduction is the preferred method as opposed to throwing a "tuning module" on the truck that could destroy the motor or void the warranty.some people like to throw rubber covers over there existing tow hooks...🫠
I love what's he's doing and plan on doing a very similar mod list when I receive my truck, that said, to each there own.

Lighter wheels and brakes put less stress on all the other components of the suspension and driveline, not to mention removing unsprung weight(wheels, tires, brakes) taking 4 pounds off in actuality will feel like you removed 16 pounds, the vehicle will start to feel more nimble and acceleration numbers will drop
