I was pulling my truck into the garage and Service Shifter popped up on my dash… Have about 2600 miles on her now and wondering if anyone else has had this issue, and what they may have had done to resolve it. I’m dropping truck off to dealer tomorrow just hoping someone may have some information or resolution on what it may be. Thank you!!

If I remember correctly, they replaced his shifter, and it did not solve the issue. Ended up being some sensors not being fully seated or unplugged after the wrap job and paint work.

They replaced both his batteries, his starter, part of his fuse box assembly, canbus, and his electronic gear shift assembly.
I’m honestly hoping it’s just my batteries mine starts and shifts just fine so maybe one of the batteries is starting to go bad. Batteries is where my shop foreman will start and we shall see! I drop it off in about 20 min on my way to work. I haven’t had any batteries issues since I bought it so maybe it’s my time 😅

Good luck. Hope it’s something simple.

Both batteries passed! The code in system was P0814-00 Transmission Range Display Circuit. Truck needs the PRNDL bezel. They are overnighting the part should be ready to rally tomorrow!

I’m confused. How does a plastic bezel go bad? Are there electronics embedded in that piece?

I wonder if the position switches for each are on the bezel, and possibly go back or out of spec and don't register being in gear

There’s a switch connected to the PRNDL the transmission range sensor. I’m assuming that isn’t properly registering what “gear” I’m in and probably shorting out intermittently. I’ll ask the tech more and let you know what he says about mine specifically.

Hey sorry off topic. But did you ever figure out why or how to correct our trucks from wanting to pull to the right? I thought i read somewhere but now cant find it? Tia

Have the vehicle running at center then full crank the wheel left then full crank right total of five times (left then right is 1) then key off for 15 seconds, then key it back on should reset that sensor.

Did that actually work? I’ve been told it’s a pending software update.

Sounds like the steering sensor can get corrupted and needs to be reset. Not sure why but I was told the trucks coming off the delivery truck and get checked in for pre delivery inspection have that done before customer takes possession so it’s a known issue

I'm gonna do it here within the hour... will report back. Mine has pulled to the right since day 1, even after alignment

Steering reset.webp

This was an issue on some of the late Cherokee models..........I was able to fix myself and it fixed the problem. Why after all these years are we having repeat problems with Dodge/Jeep?
