Steering wheel lumps?

Hi Y’all,

Does anyone have a lumpy steering wheel like this? I’ve never seen it before anywhere and the Ram rep said they are all probably like that. I laughed and said no way. Just gathering ammo for my next go round with them.

Ask for a new steering wheel. That definitely shouldn’t be happening already and would drive me nuts.

Hmmm…your photo made me go out to the garage & check out my wheel. Yes, there are “lumps” of varying sizes, probably not as pronounced as your’s appears in the photos.

I think the focus area for me is the outer rim. If there were unnecessary lumps where it should be smooth, THAT would be distracting. Otherwise, it’s not a $150K Porsche or BMW or MB…I’m ok with it.

After 30+ new cars in my lifetime, this RHO has more production flaws, by far, than any of them…maybe all of them combined. But guess I’m getting mellow at my age. If the flaw doesn’t jump out at me when I approach the vehicle or drive it, I’m not losing sleep over it. Life is too short.

No lumps on my steering wheel..

100% quality issue...

That would be unacceptable on a $20,000 Civic, get a new steering wheel!

Thanks guys!! Yeah my 90 LX 5 liter didn’t have these issues nor any car/truck(even Ram) I’ve ever owned.

Here's some images of my steering wheel for comparison. The outer rim is smooth around the circumference. No apparent bumps at the palm swells or above; I usually hold the wheel around 9, 12, or both palm swells. Some bumps between the spokes on the left side of the wheel.

my lower left too but up top you see it and feel it all the time.


FYI, thanks to y’all, they relented and are ordering a new wheel.

I'd be livid if my new truck looked like it loved on some tiny Honda that was unclean and I had to apply monthly ointment to help with flares
