So today all of sudden my tailgate ceased to work in automated way.
The beeping alert sound is present and I can here the mechanism working but it doesn’t open nor close. Also it started to squeak whet I close it manually. After inspection I noticed that it looks like the whole door is kinda shifted to the left (I can see that by the gaps)

Is it possible that this was caused from stepping on it when climbing to the bed ? (Using the side step ofc)
Anyone else had that ?

No, but it is adjustable. There is a Mopar video on how to remove the tailgate. Loosen the bolt they say to take out and you can shift it right and left.

Firat time ive seen someone report this. I think there should be a general rule on this forum that says issues arising on a given truck also has to state how many miles are on that truck. @Eighty @Nitro

How many miles are on yours?

Around 800 mil

Misaligned tailgates seem to be a thing. I had to move mine. Only takes a min or two. I was having issues with mine reporting that it was open when it wasn't and so far after adjusting it seems to have settled in.

Just by unscrewing the bolt ? And adjusting?

Yes, I did apply Locktite when I put it back in. Its not perfect, but def WAY better. Its a 5 min project that will hopefully save you a trip to the dealer.

You can watch the video above but all you need to do is loosen the bolt that you take out to remove the tailgate. After that you can move the tailgate in the direction you need to close the gap on. It took a bit of effort to break the tailgate loose. I pushed in the direction I needed it to go while hitting the hinge bolt with a rubber mallet. There must be paint that needs to break loose. Mine is perfectly centered now.

Took delivery two weeks ago and on day 1 while washing it, noticed my tailgate was shifted to the right leaving 1/16”. I failed to notice it when I inspected the truck when it was delivered. I didn’t not have the time to realign it so I took it to the dealer and left it. They had their onsite body shop realign it to my OCD standards.

I took delivery of mine last week and noticed the tailgate on it was shifted towards the driver side. Glad it is an easy fix! All of the doors and the hood alignment actually look pretty spot on, thankfully.
