2025 Ram 1500 Battery problems | Please Watch, could fix your issue

Had the truck for 6 weeks and 1700 miles with zero battery problems until today. Random dead battery after work. Fob stays about 1/8 mile from truck in toolbox. After jump start everything seems fine however engine and transmission seems like they are operating differently. Almost like in sport trans setting when in auto. I wonder if there was some over the air update which ended up draining the battery. We’ll see what happens tomorrow. I’ll definitely be carrying my jump pack at full charge from now on.

A couple days ago I had my fob in my pocket. I was in and out of my garage and every time I would get close to my truck the lights would turn on and I could hear things buzzing and whirring under the hood. It was really annoying. So I put my fob in a Faraday bag and all those issues stopped. I have been watching my battery level due to the issues discussed on this forum so I checked and it had gone from 14.2 to 13.7 volts. This could be a contributor, if not the cause, of the battery issues as discussed in the video above.

Is there a feature to turn this stupid shit off? My God RAM, do better.

I have the “Greeting” setting off so mine does not do this. I believe it’s under the light settings. However the little light on the key fob will still blink when you’re within range.

Good to know thank you

I was thinking about this a little bit more and checked the owner's manual. Page 244 describes Proximity Wake-Up as a lighting feature. I'm unsure if disabling the function will eliminate the underhood sounds (like some form of pre-startup sequence) when the key fob is nearby.

My '20 1500 ED makes all sorts of sounds after shutting down and the occasional leveling of the air suspension as well (all electrical draws directly off the battery). Still on the original battery and never had an issue needing a jump etc.

My wife had a 2015 Armada and when she first got it we had battery issues. 2 batteries and 1 alternator later a tech asks he is she leaves the key in the car overnight... well guess what she was doing that. After stopping that we had zero issues for the next 4 years she owned it. This might not be the golden ticket for everyone but it is safe to say it is not good for anyone to leave there main key or spare near the truck when parked. I personally love that that lights turn on when I get close and I am not willing to give up features due to fear of a dead battery.

Nor should anyone. It didn't say anywhere on the website "using these advertised features will disable the vehicle"

Is this an issue for all 2025 Ram, or RHO specific?

Interestingly enough, my key fobs from my 2020 Ram are within feet of the truck anytime I’m in the garage. Never been an issue.

My friend has a 1500 Tungsten. It's had starting issues since he bought it. They've replaced the main battery, a wiring harness, and the last attempt they replaced the module for the transmission. Ram seems to believe the truck doesn't think it's in park which is why it won't start.

I use a Faraday bag for the fobs no battery issues so far. Link below.

I wish keys only were still an option.

Will ask a stupid question. I understand what a Faraday bag does, however, you still have to remove the fob from the bag to start the vehicle correct? If you have to remove it from the bag (which will then activate any pre-start functions) I'm not understanding the benefit vs just walking up to your truck with the fob in hand or in your pocket.

They believe that the fob communicating with the truck when you don't want it to (nearby but not actually going to the truck) is causing the electronics to wake up, thus killing batteries.

It “might” have some effect, but truly not enough to drain a battery overnight. If the battery is weak, maybe?

We put our keys in our bedroom just in case someone wants to attempt a death causation by getting close enough to our home to copy the key codes.

Won’t happen though, they’ll eat lead first.

I agree. That's why I started my comment with the words I did.
