2025 Ram 1500 Battery problems | Please Watch, could fix your issue

I agree. That's why I started my comment with the words I did.
I was agreeing with you but maybe it didn’t come across that way. 😂

They believe that the fob communicating with the truck when you don't want it to (nearby but not actually going to the truck) is causing the electronics to wake up, thus killing batteries.

Ah ok, I thought you had to be pretty close to the truck before the "welcome" function would kick in. If it's actually the key fobs draining batteries that seems to be a pretty egregious design flaw.

Will ask a stupid question. I understand what a Faraday bag does, however, you still have to remove the fob from the bag to start the vehicle correct? If you have to remove it from the bag (which will then activate any pre-start functions) I'm not understanding the benefit vs just walking up to your truck with the fob in hand or in your pocket.
Yes you need to remove it to start the truck since the bag blocks the signal from the fob.

If you set the fob near the front door, it could be communicating with the truck or constantly waking it up, thus draining the battery.

The idea is it blocks the signal preventing any unwanted battery drain.

Also it would prevent someone from copying the rf signal from the fob.

I just built a faraday cage to park the truck in to be safe.

Either people need to be smart or there is no help 😂

I really question the health of our intelligence sometimes. Maybe I’m just having a bad day. 🤷‍♂️

Well Murphy's Law for me. Truck has been perfect for 900 miles and today I went to go to work and the battery was dead. When I checked it the battery was at 4 volts and took a battery charger on start and a jump start pack on the aux battery to start it up. I went out around 10 last nightand changed the deafult 15 radio presets to 30 and turned comfort settings to all starts. I am 100% sure everything was off and truck locked when I went in. Another option is I have it set to use my house wifi and wonder if it got an over the air update last night that caused things to stay on. Multiple things not working on the ride into work but when I got here it did start back up but all the warnings and check engine light were still on. Have it hooked up to a charger while I am at work today.

Well thank you ring camera. The truck 100% turned itself back on and then stayed on until it killed the battery. This is a software issue for sure.

Is anyone using the NOCO Genius 5 until this mess of battery drainage gets resolved?

This is insane. Something so simple for a software engineer to address, absolutely blows my mind.

I might be now lol. So for anyone who cares I made a few changes in uconnect. I did not start the truck after the changes and then went inside. About 5 minutes later I hit the lock button on the key fob and went to bed. I never looked to see if that turned on the puddle lights and then they stayed on or if it got an update and turned them on by itself.

Is your key or keycard close to the truck? That looks like the proximity light kicked on.

Yeah one of the few first days of having truck and been doing stuff around the house and seeing truck going on and off none stop. Ever since I don't even carry my keys on me or put them with rest of keys by front door. Every time I arrive I go put keys all the way across the house opposite of truck 🤣

It's still odd to me. I've definitely mistakenly left lights on overnight on other vehicles and not nuked the battery. And these are all LEDs drawing very little power.

It's definitely part of the puzzle but doesn't seem to be all of it.

No, and early in the thread I mentioned that I had a car with issues and learned from that. Also pinging the truck and keeping the computer on will not turn on the puddle lights for over 4 hours in single digit temps. I obviously have no idea what else was on but I know from the video the puddle lights were. I have a JL Wrangler and a Grand Cherokee so I know all about uconnect gremlins lol. I will be double checking all lights are off before bed and if I make any changes in uconnect I start up the truck after and shut it down.

On a side note I have a Tazer for my wrangler. If you make changes you have to do 2 full reboot cycles to avoid killing the battery. I wonder how many people that woke up to a dead battery made uconnect changes like I did and then woke up to a dead battery?

Depends which software engineer you are referring to. For example, most of the software in these trucks is third-party. So, first step is to correctly identify which software is causing the conflict. Then, adjust the code, test it against all the other software, validate it in a lab as well as on real-world trucks. Then, you can release a patch. It takes a least a month if not better.

I think batteries getting killed overnight because ram definitely not having them charged fully all the time. I noticed on mine if I do 1 hour trip it runs at 14.5 volts but if I'm doing another trip soon after batteries start dropping. During my long trip I started at about 14.5volts and after about 3 hours it settled at 12.9 volts and stayed there for rest of the trip about 6 hours. Next day during first drive was at 14.5 again. I think of lights stayed all night with that 12.9 charge while driving definitely could of killed it.
