2019 Ford Raptor
Hi all,

I've been lurking on the forum and thinking about becoming a RHO owner yet but really thinking hard about it. I'm a diehard Ford guy and currently driving a 19 Raptor and thinking about replacing it with either a new Raptor or RHO. Still have almost a year warranty so might just wait until 2026's come out.
The RHO has me more interested than the 2024/25 Raptors.

Thanks for any feed back.

Thanks I've watched a few of his videos need to check out more.

He's the only one I knew offhand that has owned several raptors and just got the RHO. His recent compare videos were pretty detailed. If you had any specific questions I'm sure he could address them though.

I did. While the truck feels solid, looks good, and smells new, it’s been a rough go. Nothing but electrical issues. Others have had better luck but I’m most definitely missing my 2023 Raptor. Mostly because of the reliability, exhaust note and the fact that I had it set up how I wanted it lol

I’ve had 3 gen 3 Raptor, and one of them was a R. Interior wise no competition, rho interior wins easily much more solid ! Exterior I know is subjective but rho/trx has always been much more aggressive looking than the raptor! And comparing power to a regular gen 3 Raptor rho is much more lively and less turbo lag.

Sorry to hear about it being a rough go so far. That's why I'm a bit hesitant at the moment to jump into one or just give it a year and go with a 2026 model. My 19 Raptor had a few issues like the cam phaser and also most recent SSVT solenoid but all handled under warranty. Well I hope you get the issues fixed with the RHO so you can enjoy it as much as your 23 Raptor.

Yeah the interior of the RHO is what blows me away. Ford used to lead that category but since 2019 Ram has taken over in my opinion. I'm not crazy about the All Time AWD but after watching an engineer explain it I guess it makes sense.

Just out of curiosity, why not a fan of the AWD?

Thanks! Have a service appointment on three February so hopefully they can sort it out. I tend to think they might not be able to as the lights come and go as they please and are intermittent. Just enough to drive me crazy lol. I won’t be able to put up with that too long. That’s for sure.

I had a gen 3 and then a gen 3.5. I traded it in for my RHO. I have no regrets. I love my RHO. From the interior to the power it’s not even close. I enjoyed my Raptor, but I’m very happy with my trade in. You won’t be disappointed. Go for it!

The gen 3 was smoother on road. Also had numerous rattles inside, tons of little issues that ford wouldn't fix. Rho is much nicer inside, faster in a straight line, but feels heavier and stiff compared to the 21' I had.

I was next to a Raptor guy on road today and he was eye fkn the shit out of me. Pretty sure he was flying home to start the ordering process :ROFLMAO:

I wrestled with this too. Pros and cons for both. The RHO is faster, and has far superior interior materials, overall construction, and a better transmission. But the RHO is a bit dated looking, has a lame selection of colors (where is stingray/lunar??) and despite the claimed 150 lb weight reduction over the TRX -- which seems like BS-- it remains about 500lbs heavier than a comparable Raptor - which will have long-term effects upon all of the drivetrain wear items. You've also got the difference between a 3.0L I6 pressurized to 28 psi vs. a 3.5L V6 with <18psi. Jury still out on durability. Also, unlike the Raptor, the RHO is incapable of being driven in 2wd. So outside of Baja mode, donuts are off the menu - if you care about that. To me, RAM missed an easy opportunity to truly distinguish the RHO from the TRX by making it a better daily driver - by giving buyers the option to select 2wd. The constant reciprocating drag of a 4wd system which is incapable of being fully disengaged is kind of a bummer, particularly on warm dry days just cruising on the highway. Not that anyone buys these types of trucks for gas mileage, but in my opinion, more than the boost happy engine, the lift, the big tires or the 6,500 curb weight, it is this transfer case which is causing the craptastic mileage. Just seems like a missed opportunity by RAM to have easily made this truck a better daily driver than the TRX. All that aside, for all of what you get on the RHO for the money, to me it is still the best deal going.

I just think it might get a little better mpg if you could select 2wd but then again it is a sports performance truck so none of us are buying it for MPG's HAHAHA My Raptor gets around 16 all around driving it and I don't baby it drive however and still 16.

Maybe he was thinking man I hope this RHO doesn't want to run me because I'm stock and he will smoke me :ROFLMAO:

Thanks for response and I can see your pros and cons and agree with a lot of them. I'm not too worried about donuts but like you when it's a summer day out I don't see a need to be running in AWD even though the engineer explained it that it kind of is in 2wd as long as the rear wheels don't slip but still like you said you have the drag on the drive line. Funny you say that about a missed opportunity as my wife bought a new Toyota Crown and I was checking out the all new Tundra TRD Pro. Even went and built some but I'm like this was a brand new truck in 2022 and no AWD option like their competitors and no tail gate step of any kind and if you get hybrid model zero storage in the back. I'm like man Toyota missed an opportunity here. I just don't get who these manufactures talk to when designing or updating trucks, but that's just me. Anyhow back on topic I agree for the money the RHO is the best deal going. Who knows I might have to try one just not sure if I will get a current 2025 model or just give them a year and see how they are doing and order a 2026.

I went from a 21 TRX which I thought was the best vehicle I’ve ever owned. I then bought a 23 raptor and hated it, then I got the 24 raptor and I know they seem the same as 23 but for me it was a huge difference from the 23, including a better muffler sound which to me the 23 was not good. All along I’ve always wanted to get another TRX but I just could not justify spending the 130k so when they released the RHO I thought it was a perfect opportunity to make the change. I now own the RHO with 480 miles and love it, no regrets. No issues so far and I don’t expect to have any. When I purchased the TRX there was a lot of talk that they had issues and I had none except for 1 blown rear shock which was no big deal and things like this happen. Pull the trigger buy the RHO!

The waiting finally ended last Friday after an order placed on 4/29/24 With Koons in VA. I must say, I’ve had 2 gen 2 raptors, 4 gen 3 raptors, a TRX, and now this RHO! The TRX I liked, but was way too wild for a daily. The Raptors I always loved the nimbleness and sporty drive. This RHO however drives like a Cadillac. It’s not as nimble as the raptor but has the same fun appeal so far. Being that it is AWD it feels more planted in the front end, similar to the difference in a European car, much heavier feel.
I haven’t gotten on it yet but I definitely like the 8sp trans vs over shifting 10spd in the raptor. The interior is on a completely different level from Ford in fit and finish and technology.
I’m Hoping for some worry free miles but understand shit happens, I had a plethora of issues with some of my Gen3 Rappys as well. I love everything about it thus far. I do want to give a shout out to Brian at Koons! Not only did he make this a seamless process, he was well-versed in all the available discounts that exist in addition to the $10,500 discount when we placed our order. Both myself and a close friend picked up our RHO‘s for $14,500 under sticker. Unbelievable purchase, be sure to give Brian a call. He is your guy I will be buying from them in the future for certain! — at Koons Tysons Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram.

At the end of the day, even though I got my last 2024 raptor for invoice, this ended up being $7500 lessmthan that, $14,500 off marl of $85k . So looking at an MSRP on a raptor at similar value you can’t ignore how cheap you can buy one of these trucks for.
