Audio upgrade ideas?

I haven't received my truck yet, but I've checking out the offerings from Net Audio, not 100% if the stuff works with the RHO but it looks pretty legit!
The package sub enclosure? That’s the only audio i really see from them. I hope they confirm that works with the 25’ models as I would like to get that enclosure/sub/amp combo. I’m anxious to receive my truck and see how the alpine system is. Won’t be like my current HK system and wonder if I’m going to want to dive into difficult audio upgrades with all the ANC bypassing.

I've been eyeballing the behind the seat single 10 enclosure with amp and wiring. In my GMC it's got "Bose Premium" basically an upgraded clock radio, I added the gm assc kicker 10/amp/wiring kit and now I can almost be satisfied while driving it!

Yep same. Probly the audison sub maybe in ported not sure yet. Bose car systems are absolute dog water haha.

Man that doesn’t sound right, no pun intended. I’d have that checked out. The HK system is the opposite of a bad stereo system.
Yeah, I agree...

I've had zero issues with the audio. Even my 14-year-old told me it was "Too Loud!" :ROFLMAO:

Well I will have the alpine not the HK system. The HK system is good if it’s anything like my stinger’s HK system. Haven’t heard the alpine so might be upgrading once I hear it.

I had the base option in my Rebel (dont know if this was alpine or not) .... left the factory head/amp - replaced the 4 door speakers with Infinity 9633ix, the dash with JBL GX328 and added the Cerwin Vega VPAS10 powered 10 inch sub (tapped the B-pillar speaker for input) .... a low cost/easy upgrade .... by no means audiophile but worth the investment and time. Happy with the HK system in RHO (with surround sound on) - I do agree there should be more than a 3 channel EQ in this system - but I guess if the speaker/amp design is solid, EQ's are less important.

I started a thread on this a while back. It didn’t go anywhere. Right now, I consider the HK system a pleasant background fill noise, sort of like Muzak in a department store. It’s very muddy.

I’ve noticed many of the people who like the RHO HK system mention its loudness. Volume is not an indicator of quality sound, but I get it. That’s where 95% of the public lands. From that perspective, why should Ram do more, if 95% of the public expects nothing more.

I’ve done the whole aftermarket conversion thing & loved it. But, it gets freakin’ expensive. Not sure it’s worth it in an RHO. I’d rather put my money into a new exhaust that quiets the blatty 6 cylinder exhaust noise & amplifies the turbos. That would be sweet!

I went for the HK to the Alpine and actually liked the Alpine better in my 2022. It had a lot more bass. Both trucks were 2022s.

The 19 speaker Harmon Kardon in the RHO is acceptable to most people. Being an audiophile is an addiction, and to me, the HK in the RHO is at the top of the stock system turd pile. So, here is what I am doing to it.

First, HELIX V EIGHTEEN DSP - 18 Channel DSP Amplifier because the speakers are not necessarily the issue. With a proper tune, you will be shocked how good the stock speakers can sound.

Second, Skar single 10" ported subwoofer enclosure (fits under back seat) with Hertz 10" 2500.3 Mille Legend subwoofer. I'll be using my old JL Audio Slash 500/1 for now (yes, it is the American made original, only 25 years old and will pound you out of the cab of the truck).

Third, speakers, but I have not researched that yet. In my 2005 Tacoma, I have

Helix DSP.3s;
RE Audio XXX 7" front midbass driven by bridged Butler TDB 2150 tube amplifers;
RE Audio XXX 7" rear doors driven by Butler TDB 275 tube amplifier;
RE Audio 10" SEX V2D4 driven by Soundstream HRU.2;
Hertz MLK 700.3 Mille Legend components (active) driven by Soundstream HRU.4.

The Butler tube amps are mounted upside down on a molle panel over the back seat. Being an audiophile is not rational.

That system is so nearly perfect that I decided not to trade the Tacoma so I can listen to it every so often until I can upgrade the RHO. Again, being an audiophile is not rational. Of course, paying $100k for a truck to spank Raptor ass isn't either. I can't wait to put the tuner and up the horsepower to 650.

Following this. Post progress dates.

My exact recommendation in another thread. Look forward to hearing about your progress.

Curious…will that setup allow you to modify the subwoofer crossover frequency to avoid “mid-bass hump” & have a separate, driver accessible level control for the sub-bass? With differences in music & recording quality, those are “must have” features in an upgraded audio system.

I installed vehicle specific SoundSkin to all four doors in the Raptor and I was pretty shocked how much it helped the B&O stereo. Hopefully a similar product will be available for the RHO.

It should. Helix has software with which you can tune and provides a remote that will allow you to make adjustments on the fly.

I have found that small well placed rubber vibration dampening material is all you need. More just adds weight without much gain. Cellular foam is a different story. It's lightweight and traps sound. They sell rolls that have a sticky back on Amazon such as:

SOOMJ 20mmThick self-Adhesive Sound Proof Padding Soundproofing Foam Acoustic Eggcrate Design Car Heatproof Foam Deadener

Applying both is ideal.
