Is a some what hard down shift when rolling to a stop normal for those who own them. Occasionally same hard up shift when rolling out of a stop. Everything else shifts smooth

My current and last Ram did that when coming to a stop. Not when taking off.

Have not noticed any hard shifts either rolling to a stop of starting out.

Ive noticed a little bit of this.
Mostly when shifting down from 3->2 or 2->1.
I'll keep a closer eye on it. I noticed it today when in paddle shift mode and coming to a stop, the truck had to shift down from 5th gear, and I noticed it kick a little when around 2nd gear.

same here, only on 3-2 or 2-1 downshifts, my BMW with the zf did this a little bit too. I'm not conerned

No issues here. ZF does its fine thing.

BUT, if you are talking driveline “clunk”, there is some at low speeds. Remember, this is basically a 4WD driveline converted to AWD, so lots of u-joints & slip yolks at play at all times, not just when switching to 4WD.

Some have found that removing & greasing the main driveshaft spline is necessary, but only if the “clink” occurs when coming to a stop, as the chassis settles.

Do these trucks have a learning curve with the trans? I know my trx was shifting all over the place until after 1000 to 1500 miles then things cleared up

Yes the transmission has adaptive learning. It will take quite a few drive cycles for it to learn your style and smooth out.
