Hemi coming back as soon as Fall ‘25

3 years in a ‘19 1500 5.7 and these last 3 years with the 6.4 in a ‘22 Power Wagon… for me there’s a clear winner on which truck is more fun to drive, it’s hands down the RHO. The idea of reverting back to less power and performance for an exhaust note of the Hemi makes no sense to me. Those trucks sounded great at cold start. And the comparisons all go in favor of the 3.0 HO from there. Numbers and data tell the story but end of the day for me I absolutely love driving the RHO day after day, I could never say that about those other trucks. If they released a new hellcat TRX or otherwise boosted V8 TRX in the future I won’t buy it for the same reasons I didn’t buy it before and also wouldn’t consider a Raptor R, and it’s not just the money/value, but also practicality as a DD. If it made any sense I’d spend the money just ask my wife:ROFLMAO:

I actually disagree. The ones I see complaining the loudest are the ones who learned about Hemis from Joe Dirt and couldn't afford either one, but want everyone to know they wouldn't be caught dead in an RHO.
Well that's ok. Those are definitely just white noise 🤣 . Just like the political zealots on either side of the isle that just are parroting lines. I look to those who I respect(car magazines and such and those who CAN afford it) and ignore the ignorant. :) Can't say I keep my mouth shut when someone uneducated spouts off but Im trying(and failing often) lol

1000hp Hellicrate and motec.. level0 rho, and beefed up transmission. Still cheaper then a trx if one can diy the motor swap. No idea how all the fancy suspension would work. But I do like the idea.
If you have the money and time, anything can be done. :)

Ohh yeah miss my 6.4 on power wagon it was a very quick 0-60 truck.. I think I was able to get a few times 0-60 just a smidge under 10 seconds 😁 rho also a little lighter probably but not by much so maybe will be able to get somewhere 7-7.5 0-60 lol
I'm pretty sure (if they did) that they would put in the 6.4 SRT Hemi that is in the Wrangler Rubicon 392, that motor is a different animal than the 6.4 Hemi the Ram 2500's. It's good for a 4.4 second 0-60 and gets 13/16/15... but the Wrangler Rubicon 392 weighs over 1,000lbs less than the RHO.

I think that's why trx will stay or so they said.. yes it's nice and I would definitely consider it but not for daily. I use a truck for daily and have 650i and rs3 for fun. If that motor stay and trx stay 100k+ truck. I got fully loaded rho 73k.

Meh…don’t care. The RHO is and will still be relevant regardless of the HEMI news. The RHO is a beast of a truck, on road /off road respected, only dummies like some we know think otherwise. My 23 Limited is a great truck, reliable, but we all know these are sluggish. I’m looking forward to zipping around in the RHO, it is what it is.

If anyone didn’t watch C-Tech’s latest interview with MD, the dealer confirmed the Hemi IS COMING BACK! Maybe as early as Fall ‘25. As for details, those have not been released yet.

Personally, I think it will be good for Ram & Stellantis. As for our Hurricane equipped trucks, IDK. It’s a great engine, from a foundational standpoint. But for truck use, it’s too soft under 2400 RPM, IMHO. And they sound…well…not like an American truck engine.

This scenario “feels” a bit like the Mopar Magnum engine line. Once Hemi hit, the Magnum equipped trucks became invisible from a sales perspective & prices dropped drastically. Not that there was anything wrong with those engines. They were fine. But they didn’t sound like the Hemi & their output was lackluster, at best.

I’m not saying the Hurricane is destined to be the next Magnum, but history does tend to repeat itself.

Thoughts?
A little off subject, but hopefully Jeep will put some of those Hemi's back into the Grand Cherokees. Either the 6.4L or the 6.2L SC, or even both options! The GC lineup needs some powertrain help!!

Yep same. 911 for fun and the RHO for everything else - although I have been driving the RHO for fun over the Porsche lately.

I really love this truck

I threw that idea out there a while ago.
Giving it a little more thought it would make more sense, especially due to the architecture of the wiring to just put a cat X Hurricrate motor in it if the goal is 1000 hp

Compared to this h.o. inline six the hemi
Is a iron block boat anchor and I would bet you will not see a hemi option return to the ram 1500. I do remember hearing something about the hemi returning in the fall aswell but only to the Durango. I can't remember exactly where I heard this though, might've been on tims youtube channel

I’ve been driving my 5.7 hemi for 5 years. It’s been ok but not an impressive motor to me. Exhaust note is good but I’ve had my fair share of issues with it since I bought it. I don’t think I would go back to the hemi

We really liked our Hemi in our ‘19 and with the 3.92 gears and 395hp she moved smartly. But I was always waiting for the dreaded lifter failure. It only had 36k miles on her when we traded for the RHO but the lifter tick to me seemed excessive everytime she was cold or semi cold started.

And we didn’t have a warranty and there were small things, my wife curbed all four wheels lol, the leather on the dash was lifting, we replaced the throttle body, had the exhaust bolts replaced(broken, pretty common) and other little things.

And outside of the BRRAAP between full throttle shifts that I love and my wife loathes, we both think the RHO was a kick ass move :)

Ford still has their 5.0 V8 as an option in some of their F-150s, but the standard raptor has a TT V6 and they sell the crap out of those. The hemi is irrelevant to the RHO. Let them have their dog of an engine back for the sounds. I prefer quick and quiet to slow and loud. I’m sure they’ll bring the TRX back but as others have said it will be low volume for a massive price tag. I get that people like the lower complexity of the Hemi and its long track record. But if I had to guess it’s just going to be an added option on the lower trims.

F the Hemi news nonsense. It's all about market segments and the real genius idea would be for RAM to enter midsized market with a smaller, lighter truck with several go fast motor options. RHO fits a hole in market and it certainly isn't going away, even with return of TRX at some future date. Sleep well, drive better and be happy

Luckily for me my information comes direct from the source, not from any dealer..
I’ve been doing this job for a looong time. Over the years, I’ve seen dealers and suppliers both confirm news only to discover it doesn’t always happen. Not saying this isn’t true, but I’m not reporting on it until I hear directly from the OEM. Programs and projects get started and scrapped very often in automotive as you know. There’s very little for a dealer or supplier to lose by leaking out information. They can just say, “oh well, Ram changed their mind.” Meanwhile if Ram introduces it and then backtracks, they disappoint customers and can be sued for investor fraud. That’s a BIG difference.

For me, bring the Hemi back or don’t. The world moves forward and change is inevitable. I don’t “need” a V8 in my truck to feel Iike a man. Actually, it dawned on me the other day, my last 4 trucks haven’t had V8 engines. I can’t say I’m missed it.

Good article on it

I've said this exact thing so many times, that I just about gave up saying it. A practical and business-focused viewpoint like this is NOT what people want to hear.

"The answer is not simple and won’t be fully answered until the botched launch of new 2025 Ram 1500 is fixed and Kuniskis can get some real-world data on sales with the I-6 and whether the loss of the Hemi is to blame."
