Not trading in as I'm selling my current vehicle through private sale
Let us guys know how the trade goes, i will be trading mine in about 2-3 weeks
I Picked up mine this afternoon and can say this. I FEEL I GOT SCREWED! The worst car buying experience I have ever had and I purchased many cars. Do not go pick your truck up unless you have some trade in numbers and finance rates in advance. Here is my situation. I live over 6 hours away from Koons and prior to picking up I kept asking about an approximate trade in value so I can get an idea if I should hold on to it or get a fair trade in value. Every time I asked I was told they couldn’t give a number until it hits the ground at the dealership. I waited patiently and when the truck came in I inquired about the trade in and also finance rates. Brian told me they would get back to me with an approximate trade in value, that sounded good to me.Now mind you Brian asked for all the particulars of the trade so I could get a ballpark number I made arrangements to drive down, taking a day off work for the pickup. I emailed Brian 2 days before pickup and was told I couldn’t get a number on the trade because the value changes too often and he would get a number before I headed down. . I should have taken that as a sign but I was looking forward to getting the truck. I knew there were 20 plus RHO’s that came in and knew Brian was swamped. . I also asked him for finance rates because my credit union was giving 4.99 for 60 months and was told that should not be an issue getting the same rate. I took all of this in good faith because Once the truck was at the dealership I had direct contact via phone with Brian and felt comfortable dealing with him. Now the night before I still didn’t hear back from Brian but figured all should be good. I headed down today and got there about a half hour early, figuring I could at least look over the truck. Nope, couldn’t do it. The truck wasn’t even prepped yet. So I strode by until Brian was ready. He asked for the keys to my trade, had the used car guy take a look and came back with a number $2000 less then Carvana, $2500 less the Carmax and $3000 less then Edmunds for a trade in. For that difference I would of kept the truck and sold it locally for more then those offers Now the finance part, they could not match the rate! they even diid 3 hard queries on my credit. I have a 836 score and at this point was beyond pissed. Brian was apologetic and was able to help out by adding another $1k Holliday cash on top of my bonus cash but in the end I really felt screwed. I could of backed out of the deal but didn’t I was already there for almost 3 hours and made the 6 1/2 hour trip. This was a lesson learned and hopefully I can help someone else that is in the same boat.
