Misfire issues reported - 2025 RAM 1500

Software update was released recently to solve this issue
So essentially would resolve issues found with SO/HO platforms, correct? Most issues have been reported on the SO, but few have also been reported with HO.

Well, I was just reading on 5th Gen forum... Looks like the update is not really fixing the issue.

Just saw this...

My Update (for anyone that cares)- they did an update to the PCM that came out this past weekend.

I picked it up and drove 5 mins and it started shaking again and the CEL came on 🤦‍♂️ turned around and brought it right back to the service department. Very frustrating

I think the early production trucks are having these type of issues, but lots of owners aren't experiencing this.

Thank you!

Here is few links from 5th gen ram... I've been getting my info from

I took the Ram to the dealership and they applied a flash update that cleared the codes. They said it was a false misfire reading….

Here is the latest Ram engineering star case from a week ago for the misfire condition.

Wow that’s crazy! Good thing they caught it. I’m sure the assembly line is re-routing these altogether.

Not sure if the Wagoneers are HO, SO or both..
Not that it matters much anymore to the rest of the thread, but Wagoneers are all SO (and before that the 5.7L V8) and Grand Wagoneers are all the HO (and before that the 6.4L V8).

I know this question was directed to Anthony, but I've been monitoring this issue on a daily basis. Here is what I gathered so far from 5th gen and FB.

Till today, there is not a real fix from RAM. They keep saying RAM is working on a software update, but nothing is out yet. No one knows what is triggering this misfire. Dealerships are replacing different parts, but no luck. Some owners are on their 3rd misfire. Not all 2025 RAMs are experiencing this. All these misfires are reported from the SO engine, nothing from the HO. Apparently RAM took few trucks back to headquarters to figure out what's wrong with it.
My son Purchased a ram 1500 2025 last week. Worst decision ever.... any help with getting money back or lemon law ect.
Got to 400miles driven the. The truck started shaking horribly. Flashing engine light started. So we had it towed. But of course stelantis only covered 15 miles and the dealer was 24 miles away so we had to pay for towing. We then called to get a rental car because it under the "3 year 36000mile warranty" . Guess what they don't provide a car because my son is 18. So let let him purchase it completely under his name no co signer. Now 1 week later the engine cylinder #3 misfires and they don't know why but can't get him another car? They told him it could be at least 3 weeks because they still don't know why just that it's cylinder #3. He will get fired if he misses any work, but he doesn't have a car now to get there. And in the mean time he's making the payment on a piece of crap. @AnthonyRI

Is the engine 3.0 Turbo or 3.6?
If it is the Turbo, stellantis released an update to solve the issue. Multiple people been experiencing this and the update seems it fixed the issue. Please, let the dealership now that there is an update for the pcm. I can get you the bulletin for this, if you want it.

Unfortunately, for the rental, this is the rule for most car rental. They won't rent a car for under 21.

Where did you purchase the vehicle from?

While I agree most car rentals probably won't rent to anyone under 21, some may just charge extra to under 21. And if that dealer wanted repeat business or cared about their customer, they could probably find a beater on their used car lot for the guy to use. Although they probably have "business rules" that don't allow that.

For a warranty issue, charging for towing because they are 9 miles out of coverage is a slap in the face.

This could be why there are delays in the build process...

RAM has to have a fix and the parts, for all the in-service (customer owned) vehicles first, then it has to have enough parts for dealerships for all the vehicles on their lots with the same engine, then it has bring all the assembled, but not shipped vehicles back in to be fixed....

....and then it can finally get the fix and parts incorporated into the assembly process (ordered vehicles).

We're kinda the last rung on the "FIXED" ladder.

I don't mind. Rather it be a wonderfully reliable truck I get in 6 or 7 months over a Service Bay Queen I "had to have, now!".

The misfire seems to be a software issue. And mainly with the SO. I don't think that would stop the production of the RHO. I think they have a plan. It's "fourth-quarter vs first-quarter" sales type of plan. They are balancing current inventory to production as well. My guess would be they pump up production and get 1000 trucks delivered by the end of the year to boost fourth-quarter sales (in-transit, k status would count as sold). Fingers crossed.
