What happens to a vehicle like this? Does it get repaired and sold? If so, can they sell it as "new"?

Genuinely curious about this one.
If repaired it would have to have a branded title

No.. It will be sold with an accident record.

Here is what's going to happen to this vehicle. Insurance will determine if this vehicle is a good title or salvage.

Good title>> Yes>> Dealer might buy it " main dealer">> Dealer not buying>> Auction.
Good title>> Yes>> Auction>> Once sold, A dealer will repair it and sell it, or it will be shipped overseas.
Salvage title>> Yes>> Auction>> Sold under salvage title and still can be repaired.

Thanks. That makes sense.

That’s awful!!

At least while I was with Mazda corporate , you could repair a vehicle up to a certain percentage of the vehicle cost without having to give notification to the buyer. If it exceeds that amount it does have to be disclosed.

Chris

It’s not uncommon by any stretch for vehicles to get damaged at port, and especially from the transport companies. Those people can be the biggest of idiots.

Normally they get fixed and auctioned. If it more than one pillar is damaged then its just sold at auction. Hard to see in the pic if the passenger side A pillar is damaged also. Trucking company insurance co will most likely just buy the truck at invoice and send it strait to copart auction.

Dealer doesn’t accept delivery in this situation. At least that’s what my dealer told me
