Be careful getting PCM software updates done on your truck. This version (68733601AA) will set your top speed limiter at 98mph.

You are hearing issues on 5 trucks out of 100. There is absolutely no need to limit the speed to 98 mph. I don't drive fast, but I have been up to around 86 mph and couldn't even tell. It's smooth and quick. Good luck.Given the issues we are hearing about with these trucks, it still seems wise. I'm guessing not many are trying to drive these trucks over 100mph. You have different goals for your truck than 98% of us. Does anyone know what all the update changes aside from the speed limiter?
I didn't say there was a need - just suggesting that if it cures/prevents other electrical gremlins that are well-documented on this forum that is may be a worthwhile tradeoff. I don't love the idea of limiting it to 98 mph either, but in reality, I'll never go over that anyway. You are hearing issues on 5 trucks out of 100. Well that sucks. I got my oil changed at the dealer yesterday, I wonder if they updated it....Be careful getting PCM software updates done on your truck. This version (68733601AA) will set your top speed limiter at 98mph.
Is this over the air or in the shop updates? That seems odd and will get hammered by the car magazines when they do a comparison to the Ford.Be careful getting PCM software updates done on your truck. This version (68733601AA) will set your top speed limiter at 98mph.
I understand. I won't either. I didn't say "YOU" said there was a need. I said there was no need, meaning Ram didn't need to do that. I wonder why they did. This is a performance truck that guys like to launch and race. Even my last 2022 Built to Serve Big Horn had at least a 104 mph limiter. Crazy. I will hold off on the update for a while till they get more "gremlins" fixed.I didn't say there was a need - just suggesting that if it cures/prevents other electrical gremlins that are well-documented on this forum that is may be a worthwhile tradeoff. Yes, smooth. But if you need to stop fast or take any evasive action, you’re screwed, unless you’ve changed out the tire/wheel package to something with less sidewall flex & lowered the cog.You are hearing issues on 5 trucks out of 100. So, was this update done at the dealer or at home via WiFi?Be careful getting PCM software updates done on your truck. This version (68733601AA) will set your top speed limiter at 98mph.
Kind of hard to make quarter mile passes when it hits the speed limiter just after the 1/8th. I went 108 with the original sw version… while just testing it out…and it wasn’t limited up to that point. They have a quoted performance - the truck is supposed to run a ~ 13.2@105… I bench mark the vehicles with quarter mile times… and USUALLY 60-130… but I don’t think the current tires are good for 130. I was logging the truck and making 0-60 runs, as well as trying to get quarter mile times.I didn't say there was a need - just suggesting that if it cures/prevents other electrical gremlins that are well-documented on this forum that is may be a worthwhile tradeoff. If you connect to the truck with witech (factory tool), find the topology page, select PCM, select Flash, and it’ll show your current software version and it’ll also show the most recent sw available for your vehicle with a PDF that says what is in the update. Can you tell what PCM version you have through any of the vehicle systems or do you need a special tool/software?
Or I guess I could just try to drive 99mph.
So, no.If you connect to the truck with witech (factory tool), find the topology page, select PCM, select Flash, and it’ll show your current software version and it’ll also show the most recent sw available for your vehicle with a PDF that says what is in the update.
any chance you have a copy of the pdf? or can tell us what was in the update? If you connect to the truck with witech (factory tool), find the topology page, select PCM, select Flash, and it’ll show your current software version and it’ll also show the most recent sw available for your vehicle with a PDF that says what is in the update.
So again, is this an over the air update or in shop update?Or like you said. Hold your right foot down until you see 3 digits or Jesus.
