Software version 68733601AA - 98 MPH speed limiter

In the shop, not an over the air update. I don’t have access to the pdf right now, but it says that it has a lowered speed limiter for vehicles that were flashed originally with a higher then normal speed limit…. For tire safety. To be fair - I didn’t read it and I didn’t even see that it was doing an update. Once the flash completed - it displayed the new software variant and I said oops. I was snooping the flash to get the OE file.

Interesting, hope mine wasnt done during the oil change a few weeks ago. The tires on the truck are specifically designed for the 118mph top speed which makes me question why they did it.

There IS a global recall on the RHO for a PCM flash for export built RHO’s because the speed limiter was set too high. But the recall flash for those trucks should be an ROW flash, whereas this flash number is a 50 state flash.

English? lol What was the limit before, what is it set to now and what countries are affected?

We had our oil changed at 1k miles at the local dealer on February 14th and looked at the receipt and there was no notice of an update to the PCM so hopefully ours is still the old 118mph top speed limit.

Be careful getting PCM software updates done on your truck. This version (68733601AA) will set your top speed limiter at 98mph.
They better not try to download that shit into my truck or they will have an unhappy customer and a BFP. They quoted the top speed as 118 mph and the 1/4 mile time trap speed is also above 98 mph. Tires are rated for the 118 mph as well. I'll cram my truck down their throat if they try to force that on me.

Only one way to find out

I’ll have to find a stretch of road around here…luckily there are a few that are barren for miles…

My luck though some officer pops out of nowhere and I’m trying to explain why I was going so fast while his shiny shoe is on the back of my neck 😂

I got a call from RAM a couple days ago saying they want to fly a tech from Ontario to Alberta to update my truck after melting a cat. It's in the shop now. I'll try speak with the tech before I give them the keys so that they can clarify what the update entails.

I would be very disappointed if the truck is advertised a certain way as a high performance vehicle and if it's detuned or changed from the factory spec. Hopefully this is a temporary update until a more permanent fix is issued.

RAM is so fucked up…ZERO COMMUNICATION!!!! Nobody knows what this SW changed other than the speed limiter which should piss off every single RHO owner! We need to be blowing up RAM every single day to get answers. I’ve already sent emails to leadership, they know exactly where I stand on these issues. They need a major recall on all new trucks and fast, or risk major lawsuits.

Kind of hard to make quarter mile passes when it hits the speed limiter just after the 1/8th. I went 108 with the original sw version… while just testing it out…and it wasn’t limited up to that point. They have a quoted performance - the truck is supposed to run a ~ 13.2@105… I bench mark the vehicles with quarter mile times… and USUALLY 60-130… but I don’t think the current tires are good for 130. I was logging the truck and making 0-60 runs, as well as trying to get quarter mile times.
Good point! If we were sold a truck based on an advertised quarter mile and it is limited to far less than that speed and they know it, that's false advertising. Some really rich person on here should lawyer up! Any takers?

Major lawsuits qualified ✔️

It was never on there. Whether this update is temp to help fix issues or a mistake it needs to be communicated asap. But I’m not losing any sleep just yet. As long as these Cat issues get a perm. fix.

Alright just got a small update from the Tech who came from head office in Windsor, ON. They are doing a PCM flashforward from an AC flash to AD. I wasn't provided the full flash code at this time.

This is to prevent over fueling causing the melting of the new catalytic converters. I asked about top speed or any other performance changes, but the tech did not seem to think it would affect performance.

These flashes will only be done if you are having issues it seems. I don't believe it will be across the board for all RHO owners at this time.

I did ask about a future AE flash update going forward and was told that unless it comes from a recall or if the owner has issues. It will stay in the AD flash even after a new flash comes out.

Hope this helps those going forward. I will update if I can get the full PCM flash codes.
