Struggling on my decision . . .

If it means anything, my 2023 Silverado left me stranded with a dead battery. Luckily it was at home. Being a diesel it was a lot of fun to jump. Dealer never found an issue. Bottomline, after leaving Ram when I sold my 2017 and buying the Silverado I'm coming back. I am a little nervous about the quality issues and buggy electronics but my 17 RAM served me well so hoping my 25 RHO does too when it finally gets here any day!

I had a 2023 at4 that the transmission went out at 5000 miles.

If you’re on an RHO forum asking this question you know what you want the answers to be…

Get the RHO man. Enjoy your life. It’s not just a truck it’s an amazing machine.

I think you are correct in general - but I'm maybe a bit unique! I'm well into my career (almost 51) and have done well. Unfortunately, my career is as an accountant! Someone once told me that just because you can afford to waste money doesn't mean you should - and the accountant in me keeps running the numbers. I have a fun car (C8 Corvette) but she's a bit of a garage queen. I'd like a nicer daily driver and the RHO certainly fits that bill! But the ZR2 would be an upgrade in that regard as well from my Titan.

Edit - and just noticed you have a C8 as well. The accountant in me is why I have a Z51 vs. Z06 - I can't make the math work in my mind!
I totally respect the accountant point of view. But, money is only a small part of life. You can't put a price on your health or your quality of life. One of my former business partners had a shit ton of money. Always bragged about how he lived so far below his means and how he didn't even need to work (not fully sure why he continued to do so, but he did).
Anyway, he got cancer, finally retired and died 18 months later. A shit ton of money he had for sure. He regretted not enjoying the money he worked for and enjoying his life more.
I'm certainly not trying to give financial advice, or even life advice. I don't advocate living beyond your means. I agree that far too many folks indeed live beyond their means. But my business parter always saved for a rainy day he never had a chance to see. Money is simply a vehicle for your quality of life. You work hard for your money so you can buy the things in life that you enjoy. Life's too short to buy things that you won't enjoy.

Note: not a Corvette guy, but if I were, I'm the type who would've bought the Z06 over the Z51, even if it meant I had to wait another year to save for it. I'd wait and buy the one I really want rather settle and always be thinking about the one I wish I bought. But that's just my personality. YMMV
This truck is my daily driver, and I literally smile every time I get in it. It makes me happy!! I say go for it!

Alright - this post sold me. I'm forging ahead with the RHO! Plus, the accountant in me is whispering that for what I'm paying for the truck, it wouldn't be a big hit if I sold it a year or two down the road. Those paying anywhere near MSRP (i.e. not ordering theirs) are probably in a different boat. Appreciate the advice all - and yes - I really do want the RHO!

It’s an absolute steal if you can get all of the discounts. And can you really put a price on the smile you’ll have every time you walk up to your super truck on a parking lot and think to yourself….this is actually mine.

I've been a big saver/investor my whole life (37 :-D) and had my 14' sport until now. The RHO caught my eye for finally do something and not hold the same truck forever. I've never kept a vehicle this long before but I just thought you have to live for today and get the dang thing you want! If you can afford it and you really like the RHO just get it! If it doesn't get you excited to hop in everyday and it's just a vehicle to you then do what you want. I've also read the 'issues' people post and made me think, but take care of your vehicle and you'll be fine.
In my business people always come in and say "ohh I read bad reviews about that item or manufacturer i'm looking at..." I roll my eyes to myself and tell people every single item out there is going to be a bad review or problem with. Trust the people that sell it everyday or know about it much more than a customer making a purchase once every few to 10 years.
Sorry long winded but basically if you like it, buy it. There is 100 positive non reviews to every one bad one. Most the bad ones are the people that complain about everything in their daily life.
I'm so excited for mine to come in and hey if there is an issue come up just deal with it then and make sure you purchase from a dealer that will take care of you and is close to you. When you are purchasing be nice to the salesperson and dealer so you are pleasant to deal with if and issue does come up. Being a salesperson myself in a different business than vehicles i'm much more to help and go over the top service for customers that are nice and great to deal with.

Appreciate all of the input. Does someone have a link to the battery issue handy? I searched here and couldn't find it. Trying to help my buddy out - and perhaps prepare for some downside risk on my end!
Battery issues suck but luckily they are a maintenance item that isn't too pricey. I plan on upgrading mine anyway. My 2 cents is that you saw other truck offerings and aimed your sites on an RHO, it made sense to you at the time, and you pulled the trigger. I have a feeling you did a fair bit of research that led you to this decision. Now you see the handful of issues out of the who knows how many produced and are getting trigger shy. It's easy to do, but go with your gut, and don't live with regret.

-Tomorrow isn't promised.

Exactly tomorrow isn't promised. The funny thing that put me over the edge and to get it ordered was a youtube video by Tristan Tate lol. Take it or leave it with those guys but a video about two weeks ago he said if you want something buy it. You can't get your d*** s****d in the back of a Bitcoin. Ha pretty funny but true. Also he said that put me over was "If you have a supercar/Ferrari etc when you are 60 years old...no one cares! You are just an old guy with money! Buy what you want today and save/invest the rest your money."

Worst part is our reflexes don't get better as we age. I got all the track time out my system 2 decades ago and embracing the gray hair of it all now ;)

Some words of wisdom right there from Mr. Tate lol!

I had 3 C8 corvettes….2021 Stingray, 2023 Stingray Z51, and 2024 Z06. Each was amazing. I couldn’t justify a $130k Z06 as a long term garage queen at the time, so I sold it and put the money to work in the market. So far, so good on that. In a few years I will retire and look again at a Z06. Could never go back to a Stingray. The Z06 is a value given its performance in comparison to a Ferrari, 911, or Lamborghini. I look at the RHO in the same way….it is a great value given its capabilities, performance, and looks.

I sincerely hope that I helped and that you love your RHO when you get it!!

My thought process was if I’m paying anywhere near that, I might as well get exactly what I want.
