I have the power running boards on my 2021 Laramie and love the fact that they tuck away for a bit of a cleaner look and come out further when in use. I originally intended to put them on my RHO, but I have been reading on the TRX forum that the wide body can throw up rocks on the rear quarter panels. About 4-5 times a year I go to a hunting lease that is down about a rough 15 mile caliche road, and of course having a RHO I anticipate having a little fun with it. Those with TRX or Raptor experience, how bad is this problem? My other option will be the stock Ram off-road boards or the RB20’s if they will help prevent some of this damage. Any experience/thoughts?

Do not have a Raptor or TRX, but I think for me to finish the "look" im going with the Go Rhino Dominator D1's. Love the little drop of them and this that will protect the sides well.

I have a Gen one Raptor 2012 ordered it. So I’ve owned it for all of its 173,000 miles. I didn’t like the idea of the running boards but it was not possible to option out of them.
I have to say they are one of my favorite features now. 12+ years and all those miles later and not a single door dent. Worth there weight in gold. In my opinion a must have. Drive it absolutely everywhere.. It has seen thousands of parking lots, And many gravel roads, dirt roads and construction sites littered with clay and rocks. I have one small rock chip on the left rear quarter and that’s all. I much prefer the clean look of the factory running boards over the look of door dents, and rock chips.

I am going Go Rhino E1s.

On the 5th Gen site there is a pretty extensive thread of sidesteps which is very helpful for getting a real-world look. Hope this thread becomes the same when all of you start bolting on!

Powered all the way for me love the clean look plus I'm not taking this truck off road :D

Wishful thinking…. Rock rails AND a power running board 😅

Had an Escalade with them. If you live anywhere where there is a lot of snow like I do, they are a no go. The ice, slush, mud, snow packs up and they don’t operate. They were great the rest of the time but those winter months make you want to rip them off.

I like the look of the Mopar Rock Rails on the TRX. I wonder if they are the same for RHO? Same model #?

That’s what I went with

Thanks all, agree rock rails look the best, but I need a step for family. Think I will do the factory off road, or the RB20, I am still in D status so I have time to think about it!

Really? They've never hung up on my Denali even once in the snow.

What about mud guards and power running boards?

Did your build sheet give you the model# by chance? I’d like to get some ordered
Just be mindful that the rock rails are literally 1"-2" lower than the truck itself. RHO sits high. You may want to get the truck first and order after.

I don’t know where your from but in ND, it doesn’t warm up and we didn’t have a heated garage. Clunk, clunk, clunk is all you heard.

Gotcha. Yeah I live in Michigan and we get our fair share but ND is definitely more extreme.

I'm short, and my wife is even shorter, so sorry my children, you are screwed. I went with the Offroad running boards from Mopar. If you order them with the truck its significantly cheaper than buying them after the fact a la carte. Personally don't like the looks of the running boards but pretty much my wife's only question about ordering / buying the truck "will we be able to step into that thing?" .

If there are some solid flat, true sliders that someone makes like White Knuckle off-road, would gladly get those. I don't see myself crawling with this truck but sure would love some solid frame mounted sliders to "protect" the truck in parking lots and parking structures.
