Truck has arrived. I'm going on vacation in a week out of state. Concerned about the misfires, catalytic converter melting, battery drainage issues that have been talked about. Would really hate to be stuck out of state with my family and a small 3k trailer I'll be towing.

How many of you actually have some miles on these trucks with no issues.

Also while I'm on here towing during break in period such a light trailer frowned upon?

I'd get 3 or 4 good heat cycles on drivetrain before towing. Take some long local trips to nowhere to test things out.

After first initial few hundred miles then towing is good to build varied boost levels and help seat rings. Profile of trailer probably more important than weight unless you are going through the mountains.

I had the initial battery issue at 150 miles but since the aux battery was replaced, I have not had any issues, aside from my gas mileage sucking because I am apparently a lead foot. 1500 miles. drive it several hours a day for work every day. no additional issues to report.

Thanks for the information. I was going to try and least get 500 miles on it before my trip. That gives me a week to do so which shouldn't be an issue. That way it's at least out of break-in period and if any issues arise it'll be before the trip. And it's just a tiny pop-up camper. No more than 8 ft high. Traveling from Florida to Stone Mountain in Georgia. Roughly 500 mile trip each way. And I wouldn't really consider it a mountain with steep inclines. It's a resort if you will.

1st 60 miles, take it super easy. After that, avoid full-throttle starts until 300 miles. Brief full throttle on highway at speed is recommended.

If you really wanna get crazy, change out ALL the fluids (except transmission/radiator) at 300 miles & you are “good to go”. Otherwise, stick with the factory recommended maintenance & GO!
