Aux Battery Swap for H8 Main Battery

Like someone posted before you can remove the aux from the equation if it fails. We do something similar on the wrangler JL’s with the aux battery. Even with a jump when the aux fails the Jeep will not run.

Aux Battery Delete-

Room for an H8 main battery which is the next mod.

  1. Pull fuse F52
  2. Remove negative jumper from aux to main
  3. Disconnect + cable from aux battery.
  4. Disconnect N3 cable from main bus. This is the aux + cable
  5. Remove aux battery
ESS still functions as normal but no longer uses the aux battery at shut off. Everything is running off the main battery at all times like most other major oems. No CELs or codes.
None of the jeeps had the second current sensor at least in the research i did, that's my only hold up in doing this. I'm not sure what that sensor controls or how the computer would react if it saw that sensor not seeing any current.

Why not connect the Aux sensor from negative terminal to Main negative terminal after Aux delete?

I was able to get my RHO finally started in that last video and drove 20 miles to dealer with a bad main and aux battery. It was not easy to get going but we got it there.

Even if you guys don’t delete the aux you should keep the instructions if and when the aux dies and the truck won’t start. Be much easier to use a jump pack with only 1 battery in the mix. I leave my JL aux charged and ready as a booster if my main ever has issues. All I have to do is connect the neg and put the fuse back in.

Are you the guy on Facebook who did not have the sensor on your aux?

I just read the jump start instructions for the dual battery setup and are they referring to the aux battery as the remote battery? Kinda funny they have a picture of how to hook up a normal single battery system but not the dual.

No, I have the sensor on mine.

so you've done the aux battery delete on your RHO?

No, I have not done it yet... Guess I was waiting to see if you remove or double up the sensors. I will 100% give it a try if I walk out to a dead truck again though.
