Battery Dead

Lights were off when I turned it back on, over 1000 miles completed, no other issues since I replaced the batteries
So I pick mine up in the next few weeks and know you have discussed it over multiple posts but could you sum up what you have done to "fix" the issue for now in total?

I live in Arizona, our Lemon Law applies if you live here and primarily use the vehicle here, even if you purchase out of state. Here if a vehicle is out of service (at the dealer) for 30 days or more within the first 2 years/24k miles, or has been at the dealer 4 or more times to fix the same issue, then a replacement vehicle or full refund is to be provided to the vehicle owner. Everyone should get to know their state lemon laws and whether or not they can go by their home state or need to go by the Lemon Law rules of the state they purchased in - DOCUMENT ALL DATES AND INFO RELATED TO ANY SHOP/REPAIR TIME!
Great insight I’m buying from MD but live in AZ as well so this was worrying me with all the issues we’ve been seeing lately.

These seems to be good list for battery's for any of the newer 25's (Rebel,RHO,etc)

Keep keys in Faraday pouch or Faraday box, not by the door/garage, the range is huge on these fobs
Keep card out of truck
If battery doesn't seem right, have them replace both at the same time
If you are going to have the trucks Wifi connected to home with OTA updates, run a battery tender as it will check for updates
-- The first few updates will do some "weird" stuff with the UC5 system as it has to update/reboot, give it a week to stabilize
Don't use the app, this one I'm not sure of as long as it's closed it should be fine, unless it's running in the background

Still not 100% sure it's a fix, but:
1.) remove key card from truck, mine was still in the truck when it died.
2.) I deleted the app from my phone, not sure if this really did anything or if it was the key card in the truck. I may try downloading the app again to see if it is really an issue or not.
3.) After batteries were dead, I replaced both with new duralast platinum agm(AutoZone).

So far, all has been well. I'm up to 1,200 miles and the truck just sat for 2 days and started right up this morning.

Can you share the exact batteries you purchased? I didn't realize there was a second, smaller battery. I'm also dealing with a dead battery issue and am contemplating just changing them myself to avoid taking it to the dealership. Don't know what caused my battery to die... key card was never left in the truck and I don't have the Ram app.

this was the big one, the smaller one was the same manu/type, but I don't remember the size. I brought both batteries into the store and they gave me the sizes. The smaller battery was not on display, they had it in the back.

Why did you purchase batteries from AutoZone? Shouldn’t this be a warranty item? Did you purchase with the intent to get reimbursed?

I was going to have to wait a week or two for a dealership to take the truck, then for all I know, they would just give it back and say there's no problem or have to order batteries. I went to a Ram dealership near my office to see what their price was for batteries, the parts manager said he couldn't even order them in his system. I paid a few hundred bucks, changed them out myself and it was done. the way I see it, I saved myself a lot of time an aggravation, but spent a couple hundred bucks; was worth it to me.

I am inclined to do the same. Was accessing/replacing the second battery straight forward? I haven't taken a good look around to see exactly where it is.

Sounds like what I would end up doing if I knew this was going to be a headache. Luckily the only dealership with a good service department is the GM/RAM dealership here. The Ford and Chevy would put air in your tire, charge you a couple hundred and say that's why your batteries are dead

yup, 10mm socket and need a long extension for the tie down, super simple though.

I guess keep the old batteries to throw back in in case it doesn't fix it and you have to take it in anyway.

this was the other battery, FYI you need an e-torx socket to remove the studs from the stock battery and transfer to the new battery

Thanks for the info. Was able to jump start the truck today. Oddly, the digital cluster showed ~13 V for the current battery immediately after jump starting. I expected to see a little lower voltage in a dead battery (and it was truly dead because I had absolutely no power to the vehicle prior to the jump start). I never got any battery charge warning indicator prior to the battery dying either. Ultimately I said screw it and just drove it to the dealer. They won't get to my truck until next week but I had other issues that I wanted them to look at as well. Maybe I'll regret taking it in, maybe not. Perhaps it will just be a simple battery replacement that solves the problem.

If you turned the truck off, then turned the ignition right back on without startup you'd probably get a battery idea of the battery voltage. That's exactly where I was at, running id be around 13.2v, once I put in new batteries I'm at 14.4-.5v 99% of the time

I dislike the idea of putting another $400 into batteries on a brand new, fully warranted $80+K truck, but I’m at the point now…if this solves my safety system faults, its worth it!

I’m doing my 2nd full battery recondition/charge this week. Batteries won’t stay lit. I’ve also removed the PPF from my radar cover. Giving it one more chance before I go the aftermarket AGM battery route.

the stock batteries are agm. I agree with you, I dislike the idea, but instead of putting it on a battery tender every night and all the warning lights for the past two weeks, I just paid the 400. If nothing else works, hopefully the new batteries will.

So is anyone using the app? About to pick my truck up and I’d like to download the app but don’t want to risk killing my battery.

I’ve done 3 battery conditions & full charge sessions on mine. I’ve had it less than 3 weeks, yet every time I hook up the charger, it takes a full 36-48 hours to reach float.

Something is killing these batteries.
Wonder if the truck is trying to do a software update, downloading, fails, then keeps trying while the truck is turned off?

I have used the app since I picked up the truck and no battery issues.
