Battery Dead

@AnthonyRI are you guys seeing this same battery issue on your trucks? Of so what have you been doing to deal with it? Tia
This is what I've been wondering as well! How are dealerships and ports dealing with this issue? They can't be keeping chargers on all these trucks sitting around!
 
Just FYI..
There are good number of 1500 models are experiencing the same issue, since last June. Clearly RAM is playing deaf. 6 months later and STILL no solution. Oh, did I mention Grand Wagoneer!!
 
Well, I can confirm for everyone that its not an app issue. I'm pissed as I woke up at 3 in the morning to leave for vacation with my family and the truck is completely dead. Wouldn't even let me unlock the truck I had to do it manually. I used a jump box to get it running and it drives and runs fine but it's lit up like a Christmas tree. I never had the app downloaded or even enrolled. So it is not an application issue. Dropping the truck off at the dealership's front doorstep luckily I have another vehicle to go on vacation with.
What did you build schedule look like (in production, complete, shipped, delivered)?

Here and there, but not RHO specific, it hits random 1500s and JGCs as well
We've been storing some vehicles on the lot in SHIP mode that seems to help, replaced plenty, charge constantly, etc etc.
 
Good thing i keep one of these in me vehicles at ALL times. Saved my ass a few times over the years on road trips

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's not an app issue since mine is dead at the port and can't even be delivered to MD.

This is helpful. What’s typical when this occurs, you just replace the batteries for the customer? Have you been able to come up with any ideas why it may be happening (ie - never only happens to trucks in a non-ship mode or just notice some trucks do not have cables seated correctly on batteries?)

Well the instances that I'm aware of were caught in PDI, I'm not hearing about them if happening later after customer takes possession, to me personally I'm not directly in that feedback loop.

I doubt MD knows the issue " Not disrespecting them".. probably not even RAM. Just type G Wagoneer dead battery in Google and you will see plenty of threads. My supervisor rented GW twice and both times were dead the next day, two different vehicles. Some threads are in 2023. What ever they did with new electrical system is not working right.

That certainly doesn’t sound good. If it has been a known issue for this long, why the hell haven’t they figured out the problem and come up with a fix? Seems ridiculous to not have rectified the issue already on new builds…
 
The fact this issue has been going on this long has me seriously concerned. Logic would dictate to stay away from a known problem that can leave you stranded that the dealer or RAM cannot fix, and has been an issue for months across different platforms. Although I believe it’s software based the fix will not be quick. The voice inside me says walk away as much I am consumed about this truck. I want to love it but damn. I’m not a sadist. Unless the fix is known before I pickup I’m walking. It’s not like your parking sense is broken, or radio won’t play. You can and will get stranded. Hard pass. F me.

Ram should consider throwing this in with the sale, probably cheaper than the tow bill back to a dealership!

I’m right there with you bro. I’m not buying a broken truck, I don’t need that stress.

I’m starting to have the same thoughts. On the other hand, Ram is offering a $1000 coupon on top of an $11,000 discount from Mark Dodge. So I can get the baddest new truck available for $12,000 off or I can walk away and lose my $1,000 deposit. I guess I’ll take my chances and if I end up with a few visits to the service department I’ll just remind myself how much they paid me to take a truck with known problems.
 
Discounts may get even bigger if they continue to not solve the issues.

I've got one of these too, cheap insurance and they work great. As long they can jump start and keep rolling I'm good, I'll take my chances. I've got a base model coming too so fingers crossed less tech is less battery drain potential.
