CEL on First Drive

Wow. Thanks for all the input.

Mine was built on Jan 14. I looped Mark Dodge into the issues just to see if they noted anything in the pre-trip inspection (which they didn't). They're recommending to clear the codes and see if they pop back on after driving.

does the truck drive normally with these codes, no loss of power etc? Once mine is ready I have to drive more than 1000 miles with it lol

Haven't experienced any loss of power. Just a weird smell coming from the engine.

The idle seems to have a very minor gurgle at times, but I'm also not used to I6 or twin turbos to know if that's normal.

My code showed up at 275 miles. It was not flashing and the engine acted normal so I continued driving it home. By the time I got home I had 999 miles.

Fuel economy was 13-14 mpg and the hands free worked. They only thing I noticed is the fuel tank was under heavy vacuum when I went to fill the tank.

Tracking on my PCM shows it should arrive in Phoenix today. I'm praying the dealer can get it installed and programmed with no issues. I'll ask the Service manager about some of these other issues.

I also asked them to check my Transfer case and rear diff fluids, as well as the alignment. Something tells me both of those have been forgotten with all the Hussle and Bussel over the PCM.
PCM arrived yesterday. Dealer called at closing time and said they were having trouble programming the new PCM. I mentioned there was a TSB out for programming and it stated it could take up to 10 attempts. The service writer was going to feed that information back to the tech today. Hopefully they get it sorted.

For everyone's reference - build date circled. This one was built on 12/14. Great idea to track!
That’s not the build date. That number is more aligned with when the window sticker was issued.
Build date is the MDH number (Month Day Hour) on the door jamb sticker.
So in the example below, that truck rolled off the assembly line March 12th in the 14th hour of the day.

what does the 6-24 in corner mean?

Yea, that does not make a whole lotta sense that it was produced in March and lists June as the date of mfr.?!?..I just checked my '20 and it shows 12/15/8th hour and 12/19 date of mfr....On ford window stickers, a similar date at the bottom of the sheet indicates the dealer invoice date...Vehicle usually ships from the factory on or around that date.

100% Correct - the date on the window sticker is invoice date - my bad.

P2C90
P1CEA

Both are related to your evaporative purge system. There are 2 quick disconnect fittings/lines on your turbo inlet that come from the evap purge solenoid. The factory intake system uses a venturi to blow boost pressure through a venturi and draw on the evap line (venturi is built into the intake). Like there is a leak/blockage in this system. This is exactly the same system that was implemented on the 2021+ Alfa Romeo 2.9L TT. The venturi port is very small and if something got lodged in there it would block the flow. (just an idea... haven't seen this before)

The two lines I was talking about.

Not sure why tech's keep changing ECU's. The diagnostic system is working.

There is a factory PCM update - evidently a few of the trucks didn't get their speed limiter calibrated to prevent tire failure at high speeds. The update is related to this.

My truck was built in December of 24 for reference.

I'm still waiting for the new evap purge valve to arrive. But while poking around the truck i inspected the fuses. I would estimate 90% of the fuses were not fully seated.

None of them were loose but I was able to push most in probably .020". I did this for the fuses near the battery and under the dash. After doing that last night I noticed my check engine light went off today. I'm not sure if it was coincidence but I'll let you know if it comes back on.

It's been a few days and all is well with the RHO. I canceled the appointment to replace the purge valve.

Update on this - my truck is still at the dealer. They swapped a part a few days after my original post. It ended up clearing the P1CEA. I got 6 miles down the road and P2C90 and U0418 came back on. After consulting the engineers, it was determined that part #68359155AI (cylinder head cover) needed to be replaced. They found one in stock, but it was smashed to bits when they received it. It's now been out of service for over a month.

Anyone else dealing with this?

Has anyone had any luck with contacting Stellantis for concessions?

Do you already have a case with Ram cares? At this point I feel like they had already been talking to be about those types of things. Mine was at the dealer for around 32 or 33 days. But I called and emailed my case manager daily.

This is my first Ram truck and I'm not familiar with Ram Cares. Do you open up a case online or do you have to call?

Call 1-866-726-4636 and get a case number and case manager assigned. Keep your expectations low. My case manager updates me once a week. Right now I’m over 30 days in shop and the part supplier estimates April 28th before my back ordered PDC is available. As far as concessions, I’m told that once the truck is out of the shop, they’ll reimburse the payments made while the truck was in for service. Here’s a little trick I found to get around dialing into the cubicle farm so you can create a paper record of your case. At first, the case manager refused to provide a direct line or e-mail but then I asked how do I get reimbursed for my rental car. (My dealer does have me driving around like a Jabroni in a loaner V-6 charger) Then came the e-mail with a direct line and her extension. If anyone has better advice or something to the contrary, let me know.

Your new truck has been in service for over a month? Does your state have lemon laws? Did RAM CARE reimburse your monthly payment, insurance and rental? I would be hard pressed not to tell them to keep the truck and give me money back.

Had CEL come on a for a 3rd time now.
First time drove a few days and it cleared itself, didnt have a code reader at the time.
2nd time I got codes P2AF6 & U0418. Cleared the codes myself.
Yesterday same CEL went off and same codes.

Weird thing is everytime the CEL went off I had auto-start/stop engaged. I'd be stopped at a light and engine off. As soon as I let go of the brake and engine started up, light came on. I'm gonna go out at lunch and check fuses to make sure they are all seated.

This is what I could find as far as the codes...
P2AF6 - Starter Relay 3 Stuck Off
U0418 - "Invalid Data Received From Brake System Control Module"

Interested to see results this evening. Fingers crossed.
