How to disable Drivers assist on new RHO

No need to fight the steering wheel if you use the left pod on the right side of the steering wheel. it only has distance control, no steering assist.

Frankly, I love the distance control function. It’s been out in CDJR products since 2014 & works pretty darn good. But, I get the challenges if the sensors get covered in snow or salt & you can no longer use cruise control. Maybe they don’t want you to “cruise” if the road conditions are poor?

The Ram steering assist cruise is terrible, IMHO. It “ping pongs” back & forth in the lane. There is no lane change feature. Of course, I’m accustomed to the Autopilot system in my wife’s Tesla that is on a completely different level. It’s a 13th generation system vs. Ram’s 1st generation.

When I use the driving assist my RHO stays pretty centered in the lane and hitting the blinker does make it change lanes.

Interesting, I attempted a lane change using the blinker on Friday & it stayed in lane. Maybe it “saw” a hazard in the lane where I wanted to go?

The “ping ponging” may have been due to a grooved road surface. It was also a bit windy. Wasn’t fun. But, I left it active for a while & truck didn’t crash, so there’s that.

I remember one of the videos that was posted here saying the lane change is super picky about when it will "allow" the lane change. When I did it there were no other cars for like 1/4 of a mile in front or behind me.

One other thing i noticed is it worked with the blinker clicked all the on and with just the nudge for a lane change. I wonder if with the blinker "on" if it will make multiple lane changes or if its a one activation one lane change thing.

There is a youtube video from yesterday I think it was from one of the main guys who makes RHO videos and he asked the same thing. RAM contacted him and said there is no cruise control just the only two on the steering wheel.
Mine is on order so I hope this won't bug me.
