Quality is not job 1.

No we ordered it. There were 30 miles on the truck. They initially said we couldn’t test drive it until we got numbers in order. WTF? lol

Chris
Wow, this is all unacceptable, but I'd be super pissed that someone took my truck and pulled a trailer with it!

I don’t think they did? It could have been transport or any number of things. The bent part is where you put the chain in case your trailer comes loose. No one would ever tow from there.

Unless someone was stuck maybe. But that’s what the tow hooks are for.

Chris

Either way, I told them I want a new hitch.

I wonder if the truck transporter tied it down using that, about the only thing I can think that would be plausible.

Same here. ?

Found this on my second wash as we are putting a black American flag on the sliding rear window. Ugh 😑🤬

For those that are ordering out of state and shipping the truck: If we notice defects like these will RAM argue its on the shipping company then we'll have to battle that? Hard to argue dirt in the paint and interior flaws is on shipping, but I could see scuffs and scratches. We are buying the trucks sight unseen. In my case, does MD @AnthonyRI perform a thorough inspection before we sign off and purchase?

MD has a dedicated PDI facility where they have a team doing nothing but this job. They'll certify that it came to them without flaws. The shipping company will then document the condition when they pick it up. Any damage not documented there and noticed by you at delivery would be covered under the shippers insurance.

Ram corporate shouldn't really come into play at all here.

The thing I'm worried about is if somehow all of the above miss something, how willing is a local dealer going to be to take care of you.

Always do a complete walk around before taking delivery. These are production vehicles not hand built Ferrari's, so there will be some flaws. If there is something you want fixed and the dealer agrees to fix always get it in writing or added to a "WE OWE" in the deal. There are a lot of great dealers out there that will fix it with no hesitation but a few that will conveniently forget about it.

I’ll add to this, DONT BUY IT AT NIGHTTIME.

Lesson learned.

Definitely learning from your experience. I'm having my truck shipped and if I have to take possession at night I will not sign off on it until I inspect it in my shop under florescent lights!

So, the trucking company might not wait for you to inspect under your lights. You should, for sure, inspect post-delivery somehow. After reading this thread, might be worth asking a picky forum member to go inspect the vehicle on your behalf at the dealer before it goes on the truck. Send them a gift card, wine or buy them a drink.

If I do take delivery, I’m going to go through the massive PDI list that’s on here..

Sorry @RamFan, I hope you get this taken care of!

No other issues though right?

This is actually a great idea.

Very true, but I'm sure there's a time limit accept the truck in the shipping contract. Like if the driver shows up at 3 am I can't imagine you need to run down & sign off on it, I'd guess you'd have 12 hrs. My truck will be delivered to my equipment yard so my shop is on the property. But all good points!

Thank you. :) Outside of what I posted in this thread, nothing. It’s running like a champ and we absolutely love it!!! No looking back only forward. We now have over 200 miles and zero mechanical or electrical and MPGs seem good.

Update, since the dealership isn’t responding to our emails or returning phone calls, we reached out to Customer Care. We have our incident number and they are going to reach out to the dealer to see what they can do. It’s frustrating without a doubt. They already sold our beautiful Longhorn 2 days after we traded it in.

So we will see. I can tell you when that survey comes(if it does and they put in the correct email) …straight 0’s even if everything gets rectified. To ignore emails(read receipts were acknowledged)and not call us back when they say they are, well, that’s their own doing.
