Battery Dead

I already had my truck in shop last week for this same issue. They couldn’t diagnose anything. Replaced both batteries. Got it back Saturday. This morning, Monday, didn’t start again.

Had to jump. Miss fires after initial start. Runs rich.

Kill it. Start again. Miss fires go away but other systems in and out. Check engine on. Blind spot acts up. Etc.

Taking it back tomorrow to local dealer.
Interesting
Might be the catalyst killer. Something keeping the injectors open to long.

I really believe it’s all janky software. My dealer told me the electronic system updates completed during PDI were done incorrectly (it was their PDI tech’s 1st RHO)…they assured me everything had been corrected. Nope. Still getting safety system faults.

Pretty sure my batteries would be dead if I had not done 3 full external charging cycles over the last 3 weeks.

Since there are relatively few RHOs on the road in any given area, individual dealers are kinda in the dark. They do what they can, but these are complex beasts. Guessing it’ll all be sorted out in 6 months (by forum members sharing their experiences & fixes).

So started up just fine this morning. I had it on the tender all night, also disconnected the negative battery terminal(both batteries, for a while yesterday)
Odometer is no longer blinking, but I do have a check engine light and warnings about a few systems not working. I just turned off all the lane departure, blind spots, etc. so I have no more warnings. The instrument cluster screen shutoff again, as it should, after locking the truck.
Truck drove completely fine to work, smooth as can be. I kept the voltage up on the instrument cluster the whole drive. Cruising or idle it's anywhere between 12.9 - 13.1 volts, when I let off throttle it will go up to ~14.5, then will slowly drop back down to 13.

Can anybody else check their voltage while driving? 13.0 seems low to what I am used to with previous cars.

try turning off or disable WiFi. Read somewhere else this stayed on keeping some components turned on consuming battery. Might explain why some have issue and not others

This is ridiculous, bought a 2022 Honda Civic Sports Tour for work when gas prices went nuclear. Every bell and whistle, only civic on the lot during covid. If I didn't drive it for a day or two the battery drains, had to put a tender on it when not driving. Now I may have to do this with my RHO when it shows up! SoB

I'm a little confused about this, I have the wifi hotspot disabled, is there another wifi I am missing?

May be talking about have “software update WiFi” connected to home network.

Am I correct here?

I hope this isn't an insulting question, but you guys with the dead batteries have removed the RFID keycard from the vehicle right?

Yes.

I actually have not, and not insulted haha... completely forgot about that. I will today though. Luckily TX2025 had his removed so I hope that's not my issue.

Just read a bunch on other forums and it seems this was a huge problem at the beginning of the year as well. So far what I'm reading is that the RAM App was the issue and deleting it helped a lot of ppl, however, I'm still combing through all the comments. Battery Issues

Of everybody that has this issue, do you have the app on your phones and activated????

yes and yes

Just deleted the app, we'll see if it helps, I can live without it. Thanks for the link to the site, good to see this has been an issue. It appears deleting the app has solved the issue for some.

Anyone else wondering if this is related to them pulling the onboard power system for 2025? It seems the electrical system as a whole here is full of bugs so I'm curious if the onboard power just made everything even more haywire.

Yup. Will delete & see what happens.

if the app turns out to be the issue I am wondering if your phone still keeps a heart-beat to the truck waking it up thus killing the battery (when you are within range)? Makes sense especially if ram eventually wants to enable a feature to unlock and ability to start vehicle with just the phone. Interesting observation. Hope this turns out to be the issue with an easy solution of just uninstalling app until a BCM update comes out from Ram.

Be absolutely fucking wild if this is it. GM has been doing this for years and my trucks battery works just fine.

I agree. Makes sense considering it doesn't happen before delivery (that we know of) and only happens to a few people (ones with the app???). Oh man - good luck guys. Hope you get this resolved. Sucks getting a new truck and having issues especially something to trivial as a dead battery.

It DOES happen before delivery. My batteries were nearly dead upon arrival at the dealer. Needed two new batteries to complete the PDI, as the original batteries could not be charged to a sufficient voltage.

I’m just sayin’…the more my service advisor explained about this new electrical architecture, the more I knew it was gonna be complicated to fix. These poor techs are at a grave disadvantage, unless they are trained to the latest standard.

I’ll report back if deleting the app makes any difference. Gonna take a few days. Need to fully condition & charge the batteries (has been taking 36-48 hours). Then, let it sit for at least 2-3 days. Then charge them again & see how long it takes.
