Battery is Dead in my RHO...

I agree with this. Something is staying on after shut down. Only thing I have noticed is the USB ports stay illuminated and powered for some time (not sure how long) but they eventually go off. I haven't stayed there for 30min or 1-2 hours watching it.

I was having substantial voltage drop even with replacement batteries for a couple months until recently. I left my truck sitting for 3 days with keys/card put away in a faraday box and my battery monitors only went down to 73% SOC (state of charge) and 12.8 volts. Previously it would drop to around 63% at 12.2 volts in the same amount of time. I wish there was a way to know if or when there was an OTA update. I just have a hard time letting my brand new truck just sit for a week or two to do more test.
You could pull the fuse on the aux battery and disconnect its negative terminal to isolate it and see if the draw is coming from there.

Ok guys, was getting a video prepared for you all to show that my truck is good to go after sitting 14 days in a heated garage..... and guess what truck wont start. I checked voltage on both the big and little battery both showing around 4 volts. I tried jumping it with a portable jump starter, did nothing. I have a charger on each battery right now. I am glad I didnt let my truck sit at airport I would have been in a bad spot trying to get home.

-I looked in manual to see if any special instructions on how to charge and not seeing anything unique about this.

-Has anyone else been able to save one of these batteries? Already in contact with Mark Dodge @AnthonyRI and Arron.
Are dead batteries impacting both L1 and L0 trucks, or is there some tech/software in the L1 trucks that is contributing to it? I’ve had my L0 for 2 months with no battery issues so far.

Great question! Hopefully we can get some input on this one.....

I saw @Ctech-Review's video and realized my RHO had been sitting outside for 14 days. It started today and ran a little ragged for a few minutes. I figured that was natural. However, I have a new box on the screen that says the Uconnect box isn't working and WiFi isn't available. I'm assuming this has to do with the Ads I agreed to let them display that have always been about buying Mopar add ons. I don't mind not having those. LOL

USB stay on for 1 hour by default on every Jeep and Ram I own.

Great question honestly!

The NOCO (Genius) 5 is actually a trickle only charger.

bought it for the RHO and actually like it better than my CTEK I have on the 911. It actually seems more robust (built) and does not get as warm as the CTEK does on trickle. I'll get another one likely

Good to know, thanks!

Interesting...did your Ram app show any health updates on your truck in past 14 days? would it start from the Ram app?

Not that you should have to for 14 days, but I wonder how well storage mode would work? Might be worth doing if you know it'll be a few days, given the battery issues this truck has.

The app shows no health updates in the past 14 days. It says everything is good. And yes, it will start from the Ram app.

Took it to the dealer...Hoping to get it tomorrow! I will post up once I got some results!
My buddy told me they had to pull the interior apart on his after two sets of dead batteries - they wound up finding a loose wiring connection. Ugh.

Can you please ask for details on this? We need to identify the source of these loose connections. Hell I’d be the guy to tear apart my own truck to correct a connection.

That was the problem with my climate control system not working - loose/bad electrical connections buried up high under the dash. I really think Ram cheaped out to save some $$ with a supplier and they're having all sorts of different problems tied to the bad wiring harness connections. I have since compared the wiring harness and connections on my 2016 Ram to my RHO, and as odd as it sounds, everything on the RHO feels more flimsy. It's like an electrician working with 12ga wire and then bending and working with 16ga. And the plastic connectors feel cheaper, the wires wiggle in the connectors a bunch, etc. Think of buying a cheap Chinese knock off part instead of OEM in the past, to me that is how it feels.

I second frogjbm’s motion. If the tech put good notes down in the repair order that’ll be worth gold. I’m starting to lose faith in my dealership. They are replacing parts at a tune of almost 5k but zero actual troubleshooting is occurring. Today makes 30 days in the shop.

Sorry - my buddy has a Wagoneer. But, if you still think it's relevant, I'm happy to ask him for more details. I've mentioned this on other threads and sometimes assume everyone has seen those and they connect the dots - which obviously isn't reality. My bad!

Let me know though - happy to get the deets from him.

Some tips if using storage mode.

The voltage gauge that gives you the option to do this is on the dash, not in the big center screen.

If you want your power steps extended, do that before you put it into storage mode. (if it's the mopar ones, uconnect has the option)

So you dont have to walk around and open and manually lock each door, hit the power door lock first.

Then storage mode will shut off all the things. I dont know if it's needed, but since I dont want to mess with things I'm doing it if the truck will be sitting awhile.
