What's new

I have a a scheduled date!

Stellantis has got to be the only company that I know of, im sure there are more, that doesn't build in order of submitted orders. I mean how the **** do you order a truck April 26th and see tons of people ordering months later getting updates. I know alot of people will say let them work the problems out. Still completely stupid, I know they have Hydro blue paint there ffs. I don't mind the Tubers getting there's first but come on now how do we sit at D status five months after order
I agree to an extent. There was no trucks being built so I can understand that when they started, they built for convenience. That being said, after production started they should now go in order. No more new schedules out of order. It does suck because guys bought the first week, I bought the week after they closed for issues(May 8), and someone who orders in Sept is going to get their truck first. Not cool

It's worse with Lexus and a nightmare with Toyota. Lexus fights to not take custom orders and after you sign everything it can take up to a year, they just throw your order in when it makes sense. Toyota doesn't do custom orders; they build what they want and when they want. You tell them what you want, and they find something close to it, but in my experience, it always comes with crap you don't want at a few extra thousand to me.

Landrover, is similar but your quality is never guaranteed. A pretty defender, but SOOO many loose bolts. Dirt road and thought I was gonna have a cartoon like experience of holding a steering wheel in a seat with nothing else around me.

That's true. I just recently learned this about the toyotas

Ya we called the dealer for a 2025 Toyota 4 Runner. I was told they don't orders, tell them what you want and if it shows up they will let you know. Stellantis says pre-order our truck!! You get on the list and watch people getting updates that ordered four months after you. Like I said I want the bugs worked out but atleast say hey we plan on building your truck say November sometime. I hope Anthony is right and the system was screwed and they will fix it. As of right now it's like my order went D status and got lost after that.

Please take note of this photo if you plan to do partial PPF. The front of that bedside takes a beating. My local TRX dude did the front 1/2 the bedsides & stopped where the transition line would be shortest…cost 1/2 of doing both bedsides 100%.
Do you know how much PPF costs to do like just the front for rocks and half the rear panels like you mention? I was currently only looking at ceramic coating as I feel I really messed up not doing that when I got my last car new.

I’ll know when my truck arrives…headed for my neighbor’s tint/film shop from the dealer. Just a guess, but likely right around $1K…talking just the shiny, painted fender extensions up front & half bedsides. Might be a good idea to do the headlights, too.

I did a search on the TRX forum and most were between $6k-8k for Xpel.

I'm looking at doing it myself and the material alone will be $2k

Take a look at XPEL Armor 23 mil vs 10 mil for XPEL Stealth and I guess 8.5 mil for XPEL Ultimate. XPEL Armor is a pebbled looking PPF that looks like spray on bed liner. On my Raptor when off-roading the section on the bed right behind the rear doors from the bottom to about as high as the fuel door gets blasted by rocks. Some rock damage has gotten through the PPF, I have XPEL Stealth on it.

Probably not for the RHO yet but XPEL has pre-cut sections or kits you can order. I've been told it can be difficult to work with if your not familiar with it.

Headlights are better protected with a high graphene content Ceramic coat. I re-apply every 3 -8 months depending on how much dust I drove through (AZ sandstorms wear it all down like 400 grit)

Totally agree that high quality PPF, or thick mill wrap is definitely way to go. I'd still put ceramic under it and over it for additional protection. XPEL stealth is all right and I do that for wife's vehicle, but I prefer Avery rugged wraps on trucks. (Haven't used or seen Expel Armor)

Thickness of material isn't the only measure that matters, XPEL is thick, but debris can still get through because it does nothing to displace the energy of the rocks hitting it. It's like putting a condom on a cup.

Avery Rugged is thinner mil but textured so it displaces everything that hits it better. It's not self-healing is the only real bummer on it. but it's ribbed for pleasure....err...energy displacement. Another way to think of it, is if you drive through thorned bushes or mesquite trees, it's like having someone dig a nail across your vehicle. The XPEL will take a nice cut, that you can probably heat up and buff out but a rugged wrap changes the way the thorn rubs across the vehicle so there isn't a continual line, and the marks disappear into the ribs. (EXPEL Armor looks like they added texture to help there too, but can't tell how the texture is or how it performs in real world)

I'll take some pictures of samples tomorrow in different lighting, of some 3M PPF and Rugged I have on hand for current projects.

We live in a day of so many options, I just don't think one product suits all use cases.

it's definitely a big investment.. It's worth it if you are keeping the vehicle 5+ years.

It’s my understanding that in 5+ years they recommend redoing it. So another 6 to 8 grand, oh wait it’ll probably be more expensive then. Plus, you have to peel the first one off.

I believe the newer ones are 10 years, vinyl is around 3-5 years. I won't do it personally, I do like to trade every 3 years and from my experience dealers don't care if you have or not, It won't give you a higher value.

So it appears I have entered production stage on September 24 though I didn't not receive an email notification from Ram. Expected delivery date is Dec 6th.

So hope to get better updates later on from my sales rep.
