Invited to Beta Test the Diablosport Cat6 inline module

I think it just boils down to ego for him. I think he means well. He just wants to portray superiority, even if he doesn’t have a product.
I actually fully disagree with his stance.

The reality is yes, it's tricking the factory ECU into creating more boost. The other reality is that the factory "safety" parameters are retained.

With a custom tune, some guy is inputting his own safety parameters and/or adjusting the factory ones. I'd much prefer RAMs parameters to some random tuner.

Looking forward to your install and I’m wondering what that’ll do. Like with the JB4, you can set different maps for different power numbers. I wonder if this will be somewhat the same. Like asked earlier, I wonder what gains you can achieve. Diablosport hasn’t mentioned anything about that?
There are 3 maps and throttle control adjustments. Not sure what the expected gains are. I’ll reach out to them to get some ideas.

Oh, I’m with you. I think you’re right. that’s the same perspective I have.

To go a little further people say that if there’s an issue, they’ll look and see it exceeded factory boost levels. Now I’m not too sure about that. It’s entirely possible that if it’s giving the ECU a lower value to trick it then it’s going to record those lower values in the ECU and not the actual value because it is never passed on to the ECU. So as far as no trace. It’s possible that that is a legitimate statement. I do think it would leave questionable trim tables. And in the event of a failure you would not be able to remove and drive it long enough to re-write the trim.

Go back to tuning Alfas, such a Tuning Troll and JB4 hater.
Just tape his resume to the window of you stock RHO. I'm certain people will stop, look and be amazed - and I believe it shaves a full second off of your zero to 60 time.

This for sure. His Alfa website reads like a self-fan page. He's also an expert on Ram allocation rules as he got into it with Anthony from MD and insinuated they were up to some shady shit.

He's really doubling down on the "let me alienate the market for my future product that definitely, absolutely, will someday exist" strategy.

Got it installed but I have more questions than ever now. I like the throttle calibration settings you can use. It “feels” stronger but not seeing any additional boost past 28PSI. So could be placebo. When I get the questions I sent to DiabloSport, I’ll do more testing and report back.

Oh yes, my wife reminded me how much she doesn’t like the “brrraaap” between gear changes. 😂

Chris

EDIT: Duh to me, since the unit is tricking the computer, it wont ever show more than 28psi 🤦‍♂️

Gotta love the "braap"!

Gotta love the "braap"!
Without a doubt!!

Did some full throttle passes from a stop(idle, no brake boosting,,launch control etc) and it definitely puts you back in your seat more forcefully than before.

No 0-60 times from an app or the onboard system but will have those tomorrow. :)

Truck has always been great, but this definitely feels better even at low speeds.

Again would love to compare contrast to JB4 if any of you are near Houston. :)

Chris

So a guy from church has a stock TRX. We are going to line them up soon and see how the RHO with a tune does. He loves the interior of the truck and actually likes the sound too(has a “Supra” with the B58 engine)

Chris

A lot of hyperbole without anything to measure against. Did a light brake torque at a stop sign n wow is all I can say. Never did it before the tune so I have no reference.

Agreed with the wife we’d do full launch together. Looking forward to it!

Based on what I’m hearing from Diablo, this tune is definitely a big increase from stock but they are looking for day to day driving improvements as opposed to balls to the wall JB4 style.

Again, I hope to meet someone local to compare both brands. It’s hard to say they’re the best when I have no comparison.

How do we get our hands on this?

Not sure yet! I have to give my thoughts n such on this over the weekend. But it sounds like they’re very close to releasing it with all the dyno pulls etc :)

It’s awesome. Again , it’s not as crazy(from what I understand) as JB4 but just proven tunes that don’t offer any options to include ethanol.

At this point, I wouldn’t even try another brand with all the discussions I’ve had with the team. They are complete car enthusiasts. And even have tested the tunes towing trailers.

That alone helped quell my fears.

I’m sure it’ll launch soon

Now you tell me I have a JB4 waiting in the garage :ROFLMAO:

I’m sure it’s great too! I have zero experience with them, sorry :)

Chris

Interested to see what pricing on this is going to be compared to the JB4

Chris, thanks for your insights on the Diablosport. It sounds very promising and what you have written has convinced me that is the route that I wish to go. Very much looking forward to its release.

You are welcome!! Again I think you’ll love it too

It’s similiar to JB4 in the fact you can control how much boost you want in each gear but has the additional advantage of pedal control.

I disconnected it as it’s going in the shop tomorrow to fix the paint and replace the door panel, bumpers, hitch etc.

Anyway here are some screen shots of the demo mode(don’t know why I didn’t screenshot it while it was connected) It does not show the boost control on this screen but it is there. And you can also pull logs.
