Just purchased truck few hours ago and it died while driving on highway

Alright everyone. So I just left the dealership, I placed another identical order in for a new truck, only thing weird is that the level 1 equipment group is highlighted RED. Dealer said that means there could be a delay because of something going on with that option..

The owner told me they have a HO engine coming in this week that was ordered for a 1500 limited a few months back because that engine had the same issue and failed on a test drive 😐😐😐.. he said if I don’t wanna wait they can put that engine in my truck but I’d rather wait for a new truck.

As far as returning my truck goes, he said he will let me know by end of day Monday because they haven’t dealt with a situation like this before. He’s not sure if he is able to back out of it or if we are treating it like a trade in when the new one comes in but he guaranteed no money out of my pocket to make this happen. He just needs to know how to properly proceed and needs time for that.
Sounds like they're taking care of you as best they can. Sorry you had to go through this, still.

Definitely would wait for a new one

Treat as trade-in?

Oh boy... sounds like they are getting ready to spread yo cheeks.

Fingers crossed for you, my friend.

Hate to say it…but, whenever they say they “need time to know how to properly proceed”…they are trying to help you, but also want to protect their own pocketbooks. He is doing his homework, I guarantee.

Did he put anything in writing about nothing out of pocket? Probably not, but now is the time to do your homework to avoid future disappointment, @Dan G.

You should ask Anthony @ Mark Dodge if they are seeing the red about level 1 and what that might mean.

What do you mean? He said he didn’t know and needs to find out. If he’s able to back out the deal then he still has a brand new truck he can sell, if he can’t then I would technically be trading in the truck I have for a new one. He reassured me there won’t be a penny out of my pocket in any scenario and he will cover any costs if there are any.

The "trade-in" language would scare the shit out of me because "trade-in" absolutely 100% means negative equity. The second you drive off the lot the truck is now used.

Hope Im wrong... but after buying 30 or so new cars in my "career" that's always been my experience.

Oh I asked him specifically about that because I was worried about the value of the trade and he said I will give you every penny you paid and I will sell you a new one for the exact same price so that this transaction doesn’t cost you a penny and you leave a happy customer with a new truck without paying anything on top. He said he’s honoring the same total $12500 off.

How do I get a hold of him?

It means "restriction" which has no discernable impact in this scenario.
I'll go months in a row where 80% of my orders have some restriction on them somewhere. It doesn't necessarily mean an actual or actionable issue.

Thanks Anthony. So doesn’t necessarily mean unavailable or delays?

It is supposed to signify that, yes, but it is not used consistently enough to rely on
Not everything that is on restriction actually yields a delay
Not everything that yields a delay shows restriction
I know for a fact that the two-tone paint is taking longer than the monotone black, but that doesn't show restriction.
The wrangler 392 doesn't show restriction at all, and I know that it is absolutely delayed (it just opened last week)
Most RHO orders (if not all) placed showed restriction on the model itself (DT6S98) and CPOS 22Y, even the ones that were build wicked fast.

Again this guy.. I just executed a buyback with mine being traded in so no it doesn’t mean “absolutely 100%” negative equity. You’re now 0/2… @Dan G lmk if you want details.

And because @gimmie11s is a cute meme’r. “Papapapercentttts”

You mentioned 2 tone paint, from what I understood originally when I placed my first orders was that you couldn’t order without the 2 tone paint. Did that change? I thought they all had to be 2 tone?

Sounds like a standup dealer.. not their fault but they’re taking care of you.

Hope you get your second order super fast!

Dealer said he knows some guys at the factory and he will try to get my order prioritized due to the unique situation but no promises. But I think either way it will only be a couple months until it comes in. Seems like it’s about 2 months from order to delivery now on average.

Black is the only monotone.

Alright yall. Dealer got back to me with an update after he figured out what he can do. He’s writing me a check for the full amount tomorrow and was able to just cancel all paperwork and make it like I never purchased it in the first place. He said he’s obviously honoring the exact same deal and price will be identical when the new truck comes in. Taken care of and an outcome I’m happy with.
