What's new

Media Test Drives Are Out (MT, C&D, R&T, etc..)!!!

This is by far the best one out.

One thing that's really startlingly bad here is the latency when interacting with the infotainment screens. It's best observed at around the 16 minute mark. That's like decades-old performance.
One thing I was worried about with the 12” screen was being slow and the new one being fast. They said the new architecture is 5x faster so if it’s slow…

Preach. Screens and self driving stuff are great for typical city mid life crisis suburban dudes, and not knocking that, but my wife's Subaru can do that It can not automatically adjust the shocks for landing when it senses that it has lifted off the ground, and do it at basically half the price of a TRX for a level 0 with a couple tenths of a second given up in the quarter mile. If you have 120k, maybe TRX is it. My RHO is on order for $67k, and can do everything a TRX can, and maybe more except a tiny bit quieter and tiny bit slower. This is Bad A**, take it out to your nearest desert, put OnX Off Road maps on the giant screen, and send it!
The self-driving stuff is interesting to me for cruising around the desert on long haul trips, PHX to Sedona, MOAB to St. George, Lake Powell, etc.

I'm not sure why these reviews have me questioning if I'm going to follow through or walk from my deposit. I was so excited to wake up this morning and watch all these reviews, but now i'm scratching my head. I think the constant comparison between the TRX in all of these videos has reminded me that the body style has been out and unchanged since 2020 (21' model year). The interior updates have been nominal (gauge cluster) and this truck is ±95% a TRX with a smaller engine. The technology is fine, but antiquated cameras and how the huge display is under utilized. Decent self-driving, but not great. Man...I didn't ever think i would be saying this, but i've lost a bit of the RHO excitement. Someone get me back on track and tell me otherwise.
I'm feeling the same way. I'm not sure if it's the $85K price when it's all leveled up or if we've all just waited too long. I'm not sure why the hype seems to have died down? Maybe because there is nothing about the truck that really blows away the TRX or Raptor V6. Exhaust note is lackluster, but I'm sure there will be aftermarket packages for that, 100 more HP than the Raptor, but it's not wicked fast: Raptor v6 does 0-60 in 5.2s. Raptor's FOX Factory shocks are just objectively better than the Bilsteins, but the interior is worse for sure. RAM has the best interior in the business, hands down.

I'm wondering if I should look at either the 2025 SST Rebel or the 2024 V8 Rebel and just put a set of KING shocks on it, lift it and call it a day? Maybe the dealer will give a big break on that model and I won't have to wait an unknown length of time to get the RHO. This is just taking too long...

The 12” and 14.4” both use the same exact radio module (brain box) so they should run the same. Likely just buggy software that has persisted since UC5 came out.

My bias is also stemaing from the fact I'm driving a 2021 Ram Limited, full loaded, 1.5" lift on 35" BFG's. My truck has 30K miles and the interior is 95% identical to the RHO. My previous truck was the V8 raptor and i've been craving a truck that's more fun to drive and with more power. I'm not knocking the Ram - definitely the best interior of the bunch or the new motor. However, you've got to imagine this body style will need to be updated in the next ±2 years...right? This year was a minor refresh with drivetrain updates. The current exterior is coming up on 6 years - I'm not looking to buy a throwback. This is my issue.

I'm still giddy as hell to get this truck. I'm coming from an old Ranger, so the shift in experience is significant. But even if if I wasn't, and considering costs between the various options, it still seems like a no-brainer to me to go RHO. I think the wait is just heavy and making us (collectively) insane. And most of the time that videos are mentioning cost, it's without the Mark Dodge discount.

Lots of posts about Stellantis going under and conspiracy theory on why his truck and not mine and I'm just over here like...

Me, too. Most reviews state it's a better truck than its predecessor. I'm almost to the point where I tune out any TRX comparison that mentions the lack of a V8.

The RHO isn't a V8. It will never sound as good as the rumble of a V8, but it still sounds great to me.
According to the videos, the truck holds its own when off-road.

I'm excited as hell to have it sitting in my driveway.

I imagine we'll get some downpipe kits in the near future so it could sound similar to this eventually?

Yea I'm with you on this...it's super annoying to continually hearing "NO V8" and "NO V8 RUMBLE" and "NOT A TRX", like we clearly know what we're getting, we're obviously a very intelligent group that has done our research and know our investment is solid. None of us dropped $1k down hoping this would be just like a TRX or Raptor R. I'm sure I'm speaking for most of us that don't have a TRX, but if I wanted a fucking TRX, I would have already bought one, but I chose not to for my own reasons. The RHO fits my expectations of a sport on/off road truck, that's it, I don't care about any of the bullshit noise outside of that. The truck is highly capable on/off road no matter the emotional negativity connotations from people. Yep...don't care. What I care about is driving it like a fucking stole it everywhere I go. Maybe break some egos and hearts as I fly by our Raptor friends, ya know, cuz I can. Totally worth the wait. Rant over.

There is no lag if you have a 2022 Ram or newer (Uconnect 5). Maybe with some of the performance info. because it has to pull the info, but otherwise, no lag at all.

Ok... But there is substantial lag in that video. Are you asking me to trust you over the video?

Lol. I can only speak for my own Uconnect 5 infotainment system in my truck. I just don't want you NOT to order a truck based on that video. I have not experienced lag. I don't have performance pages in my Built to Serve though, so I would suggest going to the TRX forum and posing the question of lag. Good luck. God bless.

There's one thing we must understand about a 3.5 Ford EcoBoost vs. a 3.0 Hurricane...

Much of the deep base "Rumble" you hear in this 3.5 Raptor video concerns the physics of a V-style motor.

This V-engine's back-and-forth, Push-Pull aspect creates much of the deep burble we all know and love.

The Hurricane 3.0 is an I6, meaning it doesn't have the same push-pull feature.
I'm sure the aftermarket will develop something that improves the bass tones of the Hurricane motor, but it will never rumble like a V-Motor.

I just want everyone to be aware that the sound isn't just created by the muffler, resonance box, etc. The type of motor lends a lot to how the exhaust note sounds.

I'm glad to hear it. I've already ordered and this isn't going to change that. No vehicle is perfect and this isn't a deal breaker - I was just surprised to see it to this extent in the video. Hopefully a one-off.

Truck King straight up said it is a better truck than the TRX. Going to have to check the TRX forums for how much butt hurt there is over there.

Good point, but I still want to see how much a downpipe system or any other modifications will change the sound.

IMO a straight six will always sound better than a V, even if it’s higher pitched, the smoothness and longevity can’t be beat.

My late 23 3500 limited screen works great. On some things might see a slight hesitation but not often.

Have I missed something on MPG's? Is it rated at 16 highway or 21 highway? I see from various media outlets are saying something like 16-17 but looking on RAM's website, I see 21????
