Did the engine light come on? What did they tell you? Hopefully just software.Picked her up Thursday, not the best start… Couldn’t make the journey back home
This is really getting interesting.

Engine light came on, then while heading up a hill coming into to Phoenix it started blinking. Then went solid again so I got it to closest dealer to me. With it being a Saturday I was told it wouldn’t be looked at til Monday as they close at three and they didn’t have anyone available. I picked up a rental and drove the rest of the way home. I’m going to call Ram Monday morning so I can open case to try and stay on top of it since I live a little over three hours away from that dealer.Did the engine light come on? What did they tell you? Maybe I shouldn’t get rid of my raptor for this after all…. I’m getting concerned.Engine light came on, then while heading up a hill coming into to Phoenix it started blinking. Yea I’m with you. This is absolutely ridiculous. Like RAM, how about doing a thorough QC check BEFORE it ships to the customer. RAM is becoming a joke with these new 1500’s, such an embarrassment to the industry. Ford is laughing all the way to the bank. Really reconsidering my investment. Nobody should be driving their brand new (nearly 100k) trucks from the dealership just to turn right around and bring it back and drive their trade in home and hopes the dealer can “figure it out”, like what in the actual fuck. Like many of us, we will be coming from other states to take delivery. I will come completely unhinged if this shit happens to me and wastes my fucking time. Unreal.Maybe I shouldn’t get rid of my raptor for this after all…. I’m getting concerned.
I have to agree. They will have a lot of even MORE pissed off people if they finally start getting these out to customers and everybody is having to deal with $80,000 paperweights that they can't drive.Yea I’m with you. Thanks for the heads up, I really appreciate it! I will let them know Monday morning!Your codes are the same as mine. It took them a week to find the cats had melted so would inform them to start there. Mine should be replaced by this Wednesday so will let everyone know if that is the solution after the test drive or if it’s deeper as suggested on here ie injectors, etc. The dealer thinks this will resolve it, but we’ll see.
Exactly. For example imagine driving your trade-in hundreds of miles away, do all the paperwork, take delivery, and drive off with your new RHO with your precious family in the truck, then 300 miles into your drive back home your truck begins misfiring and you have two choices, either drive all the way back to the dealership to get your trade-in OR you make the rest of the trip back home (hoping you actually make it home), just to drive it to your local dealer who will tell you to fuck off when you ask for a loaner vehicle for them to “figure it out” and forcing you to rent a car for X days on end….Yea I’m out with that shit. I’d be a straight up psychopath.I have to agree. I drove 21 hours to get my truck and at the last three hours of my journey from being home this happened. Very bummed about this whole situation. I wanted to get psycho but it’s not the selling dealers fault, and it’s not this dealers fault. There is obviously an issue and kinks that need to be fixed, I just want it fixed and not bandaged. I would hope they slow down on production til they get the bugs worked out.Exactly. There are plenty of Wagoneer stories out there…just ask a Jeep service advisor.Everyone is rushing the factory to build these but it sounds like there are still bugs to work out. Shocked we are seeing these issues here with the Ram but not wagoner, but they do have different PCM programming being the RHO has multiple drives modes with supporting tables for AF, cam position, timing, etc.
I don’t think just replacing the cats will solve it. Something caused the cats to melt down. I’m thinking bad injector(s) and/or poor PCM programming.
Good luck guys. Feel bad for the ones going through this, and I’m in no rush for them to start building my truck now.
October 2nd it started productionI’ve emailed the CEO but would be great if someone from RAM would follow this issue as you’d think they’d want identify the cause before pumping out a shit load of these with the same issue. I’m not sure when Daniellelaven022’s was produced but mine was one of the first off the line, so I’m told, so if hers was months after then it would seem it’s more widespread than I originally had thought. The injector seems valid. The PCM though I would think would cause them to all to systemically fail the same way, no?
Depends on which software version they used. More likely a bad injector but not ruling out a software issue.I’ve emailed the CEO but would be great if someone from RAM would follow this issue as you’d think they’d want identify the cause before pumping out a shit load of these with the same issue. Even first trxs had issues I only owned my 9 months and 23k miles just wasn't worth it for me at the time I was doing 30k a year. I never had issues luckily but my friend truck spend 3 months in shop first year could of been a little less but at one time shop had it for 2 weeks and forgot to look at it my friend could of easily lemon it but Chrysler offered him 15k for his troubles and he just took thatThis thread is pure anxiety LOL but very necessary. I guess the only positive to having a May order is it may get it fixed before mine is built in a year? haha sorry dad joke. In all seriousness, heavily considering getting a gen 3 raptor or trx that are reliable as hell. My gen2 raptor has been nothing but reliable. I cannot believe ram is not only screwing up the production timing on these (ordered 7 months ago) but also building sub par trucks that are melting down. especially on a motor thats been out years now. Is the hurricane literally everything the EPA has forced finally biting us in the ass? Seriously sorry for the guys who have picked up trucks and had issues, its complete BS. Between the wait and all the issues it may be wise to walk away from this dumpster fire but god damn the RHO seems like the perfect truck ON PAPER.
There no denying early vehicles have issues, even the TRX, im simply saying by now those issues are worked out and its a very reliable vehicle overall in 2024 like the gen 3 raptor vs. the RHO that has yet to work out the kinks!Even first trxs had issues I only owned my 9 months and 23k miles just wasn't worth it for me at the time I was doing 30k a year. SO and HO motors especially the RHO are vastly different. Change one variable and things can pop-up that were not an issue before. Having built a few motors, tuning, etc. I get it. Its frustrating but shit happens. Hundreds/thousands of hours collectively go into road testing and tuning but issues still pop-up. I grew up in the age where ya dumped a larger 4 barrel carb, some good plugs, maybe modify the weights and vacuum to get optimum spark advance, headers, and you sent it. Tuning is way different today but the complexity is what gives us near 600hp+ from a 3.0L motor. Nature of the beast. Give it time and the RHO will be an awesome truck! There no denying early vehicles have issues, even the TRX, im simply saying by now those issues are worked out and its a very reliable vehicle overall in 2024 like the gen 3 raptor vs. the RHO that has yet to work out the kinks!
I was going to fly to Mark Dodge (825 miles from me) and drive my RHO back, but I think I will have it shipped. I am very nervous about service lights coming on halfway back. SMHI have to agree. They will have a lot of even MORE pissed off people if they finally start getting these out to customers and everybody is having to deal with $80,000 paperweights that they can't drive.
I have to trade mine in at MD, I’m nervous as shit now bro.I was going to fly to Mark Dodge (825 miles from me) and drive my RHO back, but I think I will have it shipped. I am very nervous about service lights coming on halfway back. SMH
That’s how I’m feeling now. I was gonna roadtrip mine all the way to AK. Of course that’s like 4k miles. But was gonna make a fun trip out of it. Wouldn’t be much fun if I was stuck waiting to have it fixed in the middle of BFE. lolI was going to fly to Mark Dodge (825 miles from me) and drive my RHO back, but I think I will have it shipped.
