Misfiring after 475 miles

I was going to fly to Mark Dodge (825 miles from me) and drive my RHO back, but I think I will have it shipped. I am very nervous about service lights coming on halfway back. SMH
Doing the same

I have to trade mine in at MD, I’m nervous as shit now bro.
Same...I'll probably end up trading at Koons and will have to drive back the 7hrs to SCarolina

Depends on which software version they used. More likely a bad injector but not ruling out a software issue.

Also, might need certain events to happen like just the right (or wrong) atm pressure, drive modes and driving style. If they continued to use their neural net crap (did some tuning with my 19 Ram) then there are dozens of driving modes with supporting tables. One of these tables could have a hole or crazy high value causing the issue, but will only be seen under certain conditions thus not every vehicle showing the issue yet (and why it was not caught in testing). Once we get more trucks on the road we shall know more.

No way I’m adding a tune to my truck until I’m sure things are solid!!!

Update on my truck in the shop. The cats are melted. Parts are ordered but on back order no eta. They did state they would open engineering case to see what could have caused it.

Second case of melted cats. Replace them sure but how long until root cause comes back around?

All of the excitement of waiting for this truck is now beaten down with concerns.

Backorder. Real shocker there. Hope they gave you a nice loaner!

Since this most likely happened from a too rich issue (either stuck fuel injector and/or programming) I would be concerned about damaged valves and/or turbo(s).

Well it will be before I take mine back. No sense of taking possession for them to melt again. Rather have it sit there a month. I’m at 2 weeks now. As suggested by others, I’ve told them to look into PCM. They said the injectors look good. So assume it’s a software issue..
We did tell them our concerns about what caused them to melt. Going to ask them tomorrow if they started a STAR Case with engineering and also if they could perform a leak down test if she was running too lean. I’ll keep y'all posted.

I have been fine waiting, frustrated, but generally been patient. This is altogether different. Find myself searching listings for a Raptor. Thing is, Ram has spoiled me on the interiors, and the RHO, in my opinion, is a perfect truck- but not if I can’t trust it. Really don’t know what to do. Ordered 6/1, no movement. Glad for that now. I just think I will be paying more for less with the Raptor. Going to see if any deals present themselves since we are approaching the new year and stay in tune to what is happening here. Really want the RHO, but if things keep going south I might get a Raptor until things settle out.

@HTX where did you buy your vehicle from? Did you have a long drive back home?

This reminds me of the trx. Lots of people having issues from new with the brick on the supercharger leaking coolant into motor. I never had issue with mine but some people had issues within 500 miles.

When the STAR case is opened do you have any direct contact with RAM. For my last issue with BMW I was assigned a case manager that I interacted with directly. They separately had their engineering team work with the dealer. Just wondering what the process is like as my dealer did open a STAR case but I’ve not been contacted or informed on that process.
I use to work for Ram at my local dealer (though my truck didn’t make it home so it’s about three hours away) they have two types of cases. Sounds pretty similar to BMW The customer side can open a case where they assign a specialist to, they are the people the customers will interact with and they have access to the star case notes and they are who you would need to start a lemon law case if you went that route. I created a case because my goal is to try to have them cover delivery cost to get truck back to me, and hoping I can try to get a warranty on it at their expense (wishful thinking). Then technicians can open star cases with engineering to let them know what’s going on and to see what they suggest and as far as I know Star doesn’t talk to the customers they just deal directly with the technician and service department side.

Have that dealer review Star case S2418000010 the wire harness shorting on the cylinder head or under throttle body. The cats are not the root cause of the problem but the result.. I know of several fixed by this and running great now.. May need the wire harness repaired or replaced but the harness is back ordered. Hope you can get it resolved and fixed ASAP ..

Have there been any mentions of PCM updates? @HTX @daniellelaven022
I wasn’t aware of any pcm flashes for it. I am waiting to hear back from dealer on an update from leak down test and if they found anything else yet. Did talk to Chrysler case specialist who said they are going to expedite parts but won’t know more until about Thursday in parts eta

Greatly appreciated- just sent to my dealer. They are installing new cats tomorrow morning. Will hopefully have more information to share eod
Please let me know if they find anything. I plan on letting dealer know in the morning

I’m not going to pay any type of money for an issue, so, mine is available In Charlotte at Keffer, it was delivered today. So if anyone is interested it’s there.
LVL1. pano, running boards, bed utility, black, graphics package, all black interior, no beadlocks.

May I shine a positive light at a time when some are a bit fearful?

Took my 1st roadtrip in the RHO. Figured if my cats were gonna melt, the climb out of PHX Valley on the I17 would do it! Nope. RHO ran like a champ. Even passed a sketchy, unstable looking car hauler on a 5% grade at full throttle. The Hurricane HO pushed me from 60mph to “that speed the Delorean needed to time travel” in a smooth, quick and almost effortless manner. Easy peasy.

On the trip home, we stopped at a cafe in Sedona & I reset the trip computer. Cruise set 65-69mph almost the whole way home. Did have two “necessary for safety” full throttle passes of slow moving traffic, but otherwise, no aggressive driving. 18.5 MPG!!! Really. Photo attached.

As for engine troubles, I think my salesman said it best. “It’s the luck of the draw.” Hoping for many trouble-free miles (once my safety system glitches are resolved).

Where was the road trip elevation wise….?
