We did tell them our concerns about what caused them to melt. Going to ask them tomorrow if they started a STAR Case with engineering and also if they could perform a leak down test if she was running too lean. I’ll keep y'all posted.Well it will be before I take mine back. No sense of taking possession for them to melt again. Rather have it sit there a month. I’m at 2 weeks now. As suggested by others, I’ve told them to look into PCM. They said the injectors look good. So assume it’s a software issue..
Helfman River Oaks in Houston. No, fortunately I am local and they put me in a rental.@HTX where did you buy your vehicle from? Did you have a long drive back home?
When the STAR case is opened do you have any direct contact with RAM. For my last issue with BMW I was assigned a case manager that I interacted with directly. They separately had their engineering team work with the dealer. Just wondering what the process is like as my dealer did open a STAR case but I’ve not been contacted or informed on that process. We did tell them our concerns about what caused them to melt. I use to work for Ram at my local dealer (though my truck didn’t make it home so it’s about three hours away) they have two types of cases. Sounds pretty similar to BMW The customer side can open a case where they assign a specialist to, they are the people the customers will interact with and they have access to the star case notes and they are who you would need to start a lemon law case if you went that route. I created a case because my goal is to try to have them cover delivery cost to get truck back to me, and hoping I can try to get a warranty on it at their expense (wishful thinking). Then technicians can open star cases with engineering to let them know what’s going on and to see what they suggest and as far as I know Star doesn’t talk to the customers they just deal directly with the technician and service department side. When the STAR case is opened do you have any direct contact with RAM. Ask the guy that works building truck beds at SHAP in the "once you go into production" thread. Maybe he can find out.Have there been any mentions of PCM updates? @HTX @daniellelaven022
Have that dealer review Star case S2418000010 the wire harness shorting on the cylinder head or under throttle body. The cats are not the root cause of the problem but the result.. I know of several fixed by this and running great now.. May need the wire harness repaired or replaced but the harness is back ordered. Hope you can get it resolved and fixed ASAP ..Update on my truck in the shop. The cats are melted. Parts are ordered but on back order no eta. They did state they would open engineering case to see what could have caused it.
Greatly appreciated- just sent to my dealer. They are installing new cats tomorrow morning. Will hopefully have more information to share eodHave that dealer review Star case S2418000010 the wire harness shorting on the cylinder head or under throttle body. I wasn’t aware of any pcm flashes for it. I am waiting to hear back from dealer on an update from leak down test and if they found anything else yet. Did talk to Chrysler case specialist who said they are going to expedite parts but won’t know more until about Thursday in parts etaHave there been any mentions of PCM updates? @HTX @daniellelaven022

Where was the road trip elevation wise….?May I shine a positive light at a time when some are a bit fearful?
Took my 1st roadtrip in the RHO. Figured if my cats were gonna melt, the climb out of PHX Valley on the I17 would do it! Nope. RHO ran like a champ. Even passed a sketchy, unstable looking car hauler on a 5% grade at full throttle. The Hurricane HO pushed me from 60mph to “that speed the Delorean needed to time travel” in a smooth, quick and almost effortless manner. Easy peasy.
On the trip home, we stopped at a cafe in Sedona & I reset the trip computer. Cruise set 65-69mph almost the whole way home. Did have two “necessary for safety” full throttle passes of slow moving traffic, but otherwise, no aggressive driving. 18.5 MPG!!! Really. Photo attached.
As for engine troubles, I think my salesman said it best. “It’s the luck of the draw.” Hoping for many trouble-free miles (once my safety system glitches are resolved).
