Misfiring after 475 miles

Update: Took it in this morning, they heard the noise as well. Looked at it for an hour and found a loose bracket that was not connected to anything just laying on the exhaust manifold….not even a bracket that’s supposed to be in the engine compartment. Sounds fine now. I’m glad this is all it was but WTF. No misfires.

That's like the manufacturer's version of a zip-tie around the drive shaft... LOL! :ROFLMAO:

Man that’s great news and a big relief to you!

While there’s no doubt some concern here, I am confident it’ll be fixed, addressed , etc. I worked for Mazda corporate for a number of years. Trust me when I say, they do SO much R&D but even we had issues with new model rollouts and no one wants those.

I agree that you would think in this day and age it wouldn’t occur but it does. I have faith and we look forward to getting ours as long as the dealer come close to Mark Dodge/Ram pricing.

I’m building my new 363 for my Mustang and you’d think by now there’s no more R&D to do(50 year plus old car) and everything will be perfect but you still have issues. Guess being 50 has lessened my tension a little :)

Very Cool, I have a couple old Ford trucks, and an old Chevy with a 427. We should start a "other rides" post to share them.

Mine is still at the shop in Phoenix. Have had very little communication with them. Last I heard they had one cat in but the other side is eta of 1/6 our case manager is horrible we have only talked to him once and have left numerous messages. Still have not figured out why the cats melted and honestly feel like they don’t want to dig into it. So we just want to get it back and if it happens again we will get it to my local dealer where I worked so I know the shop foreman and heavy line tech and trust them digging into it.

Lemon law qualified soon?

Yes it will be 30 days on the 6th my husband talked to a lemon law lawyer and he said it may be less hassle to try and have them buy it back versus lemon law, but that is initiated with the case manager we haven’t heard from but once. We called this morning again and got his vm so we left a message to have a supervisor call us.

I would say a full buy back or a replacement truck. Sorry that you're dealing with this mess on a brand new truck!

As an update the vehicle is still waiting for the cats to be installed. They have the primary parts but seems they are need of the clips.. spoke to the technician for some time. After spending time with the RAM engineer, he is convinced it’s a software issue. Unfortunately, as you can see, there is another RHO next to mine now and it’s misfiring in cylinders 2/5 in that they are putting out 20% higher. Mine had all of them misfiring at different levels. They are hoping to get the clips next week and all reassembled at which point the RAM engineer will remote in and run diagnostics while the tech drives it in all modes. I take this as a good thing because it’ll be easy to send out software update. They also now own the truck so they can take the time necessary. View attachment 4306
When you say they now own the truck....?

That would have been hilarious if the one up on the rack was my white one. I was looking closely at he picture to see if I could spot mine.

Tomorrow will be the 21st day there and they are still scratching their heads - that have now had it 2 full weeks longer than I had it.

Glad yours comes in Monday!

Brings me back to when I bought my wife’s 22 tahoe rst, in December of ‘21 we owned it 2 weeks. My wife was driving on the freeway and a truck with a trailer flew past her and merged into her lane without even a blinker. Side swipped her causing 25k in damage, it was in the shop for 6 months before we got it back🤣 if I have any sort of my own luck or y’alls luck on this forum, I’m going back to beater cars!

Mine went from having an eta of parts Jan 6th to not having an eta again. Very frustrating. We have a new Case manager who is apparently the highest level case manager we can have. We inquired about applying for a buy back and the repair dealer has been in little to no contact with us. Case manager states they didn’t answer when he called so I had to call just about every department to try and get ahold of the parts and service director, Nobody seemed to know his extension or direct line they just kept transferring me to I’m assuming service drive crazy how they have 15 advisors and not one would answer kept getting a vm. I decided to call off a different phone number and they answered (Crazy)🤣 left vm for service manager to call and He finally called me back an hour and a half later and he’s going to reach out to our case manager. Not having the best experience at all but still trying to remain positive thru all the shit. It’s not the dealers fault for the broken truck but they could be a little better with follow up keeping me posted as like I’ve said I’m over three hours away from them it’s not like I can just stop over there. The selling dealer has been more in contact trying to help from 1500 miles away then the repair facility. As soon as I hear more I’ll keep y'all posted.

If you have questions about the buyback or anything just DM me as I just executed the deal on Sat.
Will do, hopefully the current 4k word email I am logging day by day doesn't have to go to Blake and Betty - but I am still keeping the log

I figured if they don’t find the cause it’ll be back at my home dealer for melted cats again 😅 I honestly hope that’s not the case but I still believe it’s a tuning issue 🤷‍♀️

Software is ubiquitous across all the RHO’s, so why would anyone think this is software related? Wouldn’t failed software cause all trucks to misfire?

I cannot seem to find it now. But someone posted there is a wiring harness on the back of the motor that can be installed incorrectly and wear through and cause it to short. ?
