Misfiring after 475 miles

May I shine a positive light at a time when some are a bit fearful?

Took my 1st roadtrip in the RHO. Figured if my cats were gonna melt, the climb out of PHX Valley on the I17 would do it! Nope. RHO ran like a champ. Even passed a sketchy, unstable looking car hauler on a 5% grade at full throttle. The Hurricane HO pushed me from 60mph to “that speed the Delorean needed to time travel” in a smooth, quick and almost effortless manner. Easy peasy.

On the trip home, we stopped at a cafe in Sedona & I reset the trip computer. Cruise set 65-69mph almost the whole way home. Did have two “necessary for safety” full throttle passes of slow moving traffic, but otherwise, no aggressive driving. 18.5 MPG!!! Really. Photo attached.

As for engine troubles, I think my salesman said it best. “It’s the luck of the draw.” Hoping for many trouble-free miles (once my safety system glitches are resolved).
If you stay out of boost this motor should do well with mileage on highway. Bet you could of done better if you didn't use cruise. Curious what the hand-calc number shows.

Finally something positive from real owner. Thanks for sharing.

That’s great news to hear. 18mpg is way higher than other reporting! Taking delivery soon and was getting really nervous. Although my current vehicle is plagued with issues due to age I’ll take new truck with possible issues and have the warranties for service instead out of pocket repairs at this point. lol

I’m taking mine. Worst case scenario, although a hassle; I lemon law it. Best case, it’s a killer truck that I enjoy for years. All these new trucks are subject to issues anymore. Toyota, Ford, GM, all of them.

Yup, we are seeing the very small percentage of issues which will likely be rectified quickly. Remember the forum is the loud minority, NOT the majority. It seems the majority that have taken delivery are enjoying there trucks issue free. How many total people have trucks in the shop right now due to issues and how many have been delivered? probably a few hundred have been delivered and 2 or 3 with trucks in the shop so that is well under 1% of trucks having issues. I wouldn't raise alarm or back out of an order over it but its each persons money and choice!

Yup. I’ve looked into CHEVY and GMC before making my choice! I felt this was more truck and had everything I wanted and more and did not need to add or change anything after purchase. 🤞🏽

Where was the road trip elevation wise….?
There was one very long, steep uphill & one very long, steep downhill. Ha!

But, I get what you are asking. I believe the net elevation change was negative. IOW, more downhill than uphill by about 300 stories/3000’, per Google.

Man that’s a great result!

Ram didn’t even put the graphics package on the truck that I ordered 🤣 they can’t even do the basics apparently
But…..unions got what they wanted with increased pay. lol. What a shitshow.

Greatly appreciated- just sent to my dealer. They are installing new cats tomorrow morning. Will hopefully have more information to share eod
curious if you’ve gotten your truck back and if everything else a running smoothly? I sent over that star case too, and dealer came back saying it does not apply to my vin, which I knew but it showed same characteristics as the truck and would give them areas to look at. Still no eta for when my cats will Arrive hoping to get more information Monday from someone.

Unfortunately no great news to share. Replacement cats are now apparently unavailable with no eta and the cause is still undetermined. RAM engineers are on their way down this week to assess in person. It will be 30 days in service next Wed.

Try to get something out of it had a few friends with trx got 10-15k checks since they didn't lemon it. Even if you have issues afterwards you under warranty and can trade or sell it.

Dang, really disappointed to hear that and I hate that you’re dealing with it. I don’t understand how the cats can be unavailable, but I digress. Thank you for the update. If I was in your shoes I think I’d already have my mind set on lemon/dealer buyback.

Just general FYI for those that might care. I’ve had the RHO for a few weeks. Took the vehicle to dealer today as check engine came on this morning. Code came up as catalyst system low efficiency and multiple love voltage / battery shorts. They were able to clear the codes and took it for a drive during which they had multiple misfires. Vehicle has 472 miles. More to come
I'm having the same problems at 425 miles and I'm very frustrated to say the least. I have babied it and I'm allowing it to properly break-in. If and when they find a solution for you would you mind reaching out to me personally and I will do the same. I have had codes P0420 and misfires on banks 4,5,6 causing the engine to have less power. It runs, starts and idles fine but it's sluggish to drive
