Do you remember the exact code? Were you able to clear it yourself? I have a permanent code "U0418 - Invalid Data Received From Brake System Control Module". Hasn't triggered a check engine light but it's preventing me from passing smog (I live in CA and bought the truck out of state). Unfortunately I can't clear the code with an OBD 2 scanner because it's a "permanent" code. I, too, think it's just a fluke. Planning to take it in to the dealership tomorrow.
Hi, yeah that was the one. I cleared it with my scanner. I rescanned later and didn't see any evidence if it. I'm assuming that was the end of it. If my scanner shows no evidence of it, are you saying it could still be there? Curious what the dealer says about this. Thxs!

any news on your delivery @testerdahl I know 12/31 was important date for you (BTW thanks for all the info you share)
I bought a 2024 Ford Ranger for the 2024 tax year and for reviews. The wife will drive it. She's done reviews on the channel and is part business owner, so it will qualify.

I got impatient and set a hard deadline date of 12/28. The Ranger has done well for reviews on the channel over the years. Plus we traded in my wife's Trailblazer which wasn't generating us any revenue or tax benefit.

I fly out Sunday to Louisiana. The RHO will be for reviews and for the 2025 tax year.

I should have a video on Monday Jan 6 on the RHO if all goes well.

Great to hear !!! caught the Ranger video - great coverage- and wife looked happy !!!!

What's your YT channel? Looking forward to your review.

At least you were able to clear yours. If it hasn't popped back up as an erasable code/triggered the CEL then it likely wasn't an issue to begin with. Mine is showing as a pending/permanent code and I can't erase it. It hasn't triggered the CEL even after ~800 miles so I'm guessing it isn't a true problem. I'm now dealing with a dead battery but I also mentioned the fault code to the dealer. Truck is at the dealership. We'll see what happens.

To all my RHO people having issues with your trucks, this thread is not to downplay the misery of having a brand new $80K+ vehicle with issues...

Stellantis/RAM need to address these issues, without doubt.

I'm a Data & Systems Analyst by trade. Everything I do is based on numbers.

I'm trying to gather data on what percentage of RHOs are having issues, vs. trucks that are problem free.

Say we have 300 members here...

If 75 of us are having issues with our trucks, that's 25% of the group. That would be very significant.

But, if RAM sold 5,000 trucks in the same time frame, and 250 (including our 75) are having issues, that's only 5% of trucks sold are experiencing problems.

I haven't picked up my truck yet. I'm just as anxious as everyone else at the thought of this $80k+ investment turning into a service cow. But I'm also trying to temper my anxiety with facts and knowledge.

I'm still hopeful that RAM will sort out all issues as quickly as possible.

If RAM doesn't solve these issues, we need help each other with Lemon Law data. Copies of service records for more that one vehicle with the same problem goes a long way.

I'm here for the long haul.
Picked mine up on the 30th, had no power, and gauges show no boost was being made , 80miles later my check engine light came on. The trucks currently back at the dealership.

The remedy for this issue “ There was a clip missing from the factory on the waist gate actuator rod. “ … makes you wonder what else they missed at the factory.

This is to be expected on a newly introduced model. 🤔🤣🤣🤣🤔

Was the dealer able to resolve this issue?
Yes, Dealership did their testing and found the DTCM fuse was bad. Which gives power supply to the truck. This fuse can act as if the battery is dead or create issues with the battery and power supply. They replaced fuse tested both batteries and they were good. Truck is running fine now.

Hey Tim maybe you can be a corporate voice to the engineers helping us resolve these bugs and issues we've had with our trucks. My truck was delivered 11/27 and has had problems starting at 425 miles now it's been sitting weeks unfixed. Thanks and enjoy your truck!

If you email me at [email protected], I can forward your email to my PR contacts who will flag it for the customer service people. That’s really all I got to help.

Well, to be honest, unless something happens to my truck. They tend to flip out if I have an issue for some reason…

I’ve seen some of your stuff, great content just checked and wasn’t subbed so had to get that going for that RHO content!

I am having the same problem and I'm in California. Did the dealer fix the problem for you?

So I ended up taking the truck in primarily for a dead battery, though my initial appointment was to have that specific PDTC (U0418) looked at. Turns out I needed a new auxiliary battery. The main battery was fine, just needed a charge. No battery issues since. I brought up the PDTC issue after the repair was made and I was told it was probably a "low voltage" code. I plugged in my code reader when I got home and it was still there. I've just ignored it - as it's probably a glitch and never triggered the MIL. Perhaps it will disappear on its own after enough time.

If you're worried about passing smog - you can pass smog in CA with a PDTC as long as you've completed at least 15 warmup cycles AND driven 200 miles (all your OBD monitors should be ready after this amount of driving as well). I'd use a code reader to monitor this. Don't let the smog shop tell you that they won't test you because of a PDTC. Tell them you've completed the 15/200 limit and they should test you.
