Just purchased truck few hours ago and it died while driving on highway

SO I HAVE A UPDATE AND ITS NOT A GOOD …

They are working with a stellantis engineer and they found out that the fuel injector stuck open and flooded the motor with fuel causing the engine to HYDROLOCK!. The fix is putting a new motor in but they are saying this isn’t a motor they can just order, it has to be generated for the dealer.. they said they are having a meeting about this with Stellantis on Thursday morning and will have more info about moving forward on Friday.

Anyone with any advice I what I should do or could do… would this hurt the value of my truck? Will the truck now have mismatched vin numbers?
Bloody hell wtf is going on with Stellantis? This is some bullshit here. I see a new truck coming your way and they'll fix this one and sell used.

I was wondering why non of the PRESS vehicles hydrolocked and became bricks?????? They wouldn't want that to happen would they?
I feel any YouTuber who took a media truck for review signed a ‘do not tell’ agreement. It’s near to impossible every YouTuber had no trouble. Not buying it.

@Dan G
Don’t take this truck back, no matter what they offer. You will have more issues in the future and every time you see it, you’ll be reminded of the drama. Hope you get a new, problem-free truck instead.
Thanks man, I’m thinking the same thing.. I have the title in hand already so they would have to buy it back from me.

Just hit 550 miles. I’m cautiously optimistic. My battery voltage has fluctuated between 13.8 and 14.4. Zero issues so far (with the exception of some d*ckhead leaving a random bracket on my exhaust manifold during production. I love this truck and beyond happy I took delivery. I understand the caution and I don’t blame anyone for waiting a year or two to get one. But this truck is the bees knees so far. The Raptors be lurkin.

I’m only 100 miles in and feel the same way..once I hit 1k, I’ll definitely feel more relaxed for trips and when the wife goes to run errands.

Yea I don’t know about them replacing the enigine. Realistically, how many replacements could the technician have done up to this point? You want this to be his first ?

I think I’d know how I’d feel in this situation, especially if you’re getting a new engine. It won’t be noted on any Carfax. I worked for Mazda corporate for 6 years and bought a new 2019 Mazda6 GTR while with them.

While it never stranded me, the engine made a “knocking” sound that they couldn’t cure. Super slight, but I could hear it. They replaced the engine after multiple other attempts to quell the noise.

Once replaced, silence like I had heard on every one I had ever drove. Something was amiss with the one I bought, but I knew it was a misnomer. Had no regrets with the engine being changed.

Hope they get you set right.

Chris

Lemon law it

Lemon law doesn’t cover that I wouldn’t think, as far as I know it has to be in service for more than 30 days or have the safe issue repaired more than 4 times. Unless there’s something else I don’t know about

So will you go for another one?
Man, I just feel like this is so risky to spend this much on a vehicle that is having this many issues so far. I know we don’t hear about the success stories as much, but there are a lot of issues coming up.

Just curious to get your tag from someone who’s been through the ringer..

I doubt they will have that engine replaced within 30 days of your 'incident', so you should qualify for a refund or a new truck. There should be customer trucks that people back out of that they can put you in that are identical or close to your build. As long as you get the same discount this is the way to go. If you find yourself in a bind and have to go the route of letting them replace the engine, demand a bumper to bumper warranty for at least 7 years/100k miles.

I was thinking this too, but then I really looked at these forums and there’s been maybe five people that have issues. Also, I think when people have issues, they go looking on and posting on forums. I tried to look online elsewhere for information on RHO issues and could not come up with much.

And you have some of them (one guy particularly) who post their complaints at least once in every thread, no matter how unrelated the topic.
