RHO range and MPG

That's incredible. I'm sending my oil away for analysis as I suspect that whomever let it idle for 10 hours before I picked it up didn't do me any favors on break-in.
Ours had 7 hours of idle time. Had the Ram rep notate it.

That's crazy too. Smart thinking involving rep, I just took pics, videos and just logged it but I should have gone your route.

I drove across the US... from Oregon to Alabama going through California and across via I-20 and I-10. With 91 octane I was getting mid 13's with 93 octane the economy jumped to 14.3mpg. This was all freeway driving at 75-80mph. Truck has 3,600 miles on it now.
Any issues after 3600 miles? Debating driving mine back to Washington from Mark Dodge

Anyone know what RAM used for break-in oil? Since putting in 7.5 of the good stuff there was one thing I noticed immediately, the pressure seems same but factory oil took a long while to get up to temp, whereas the amsoil 0w40 gets to temp and ready to rock in no time.
I’ve been led to believe break-in oil is a thing from the past. This is due to every new truck I’ve bought not really requiring a break-in period nor any recommendation to change the oil soon after purchase.

We shall see with oil analysis, but I strongly suspect these came with some kind of break in oil, or there was a great deal of silicone broken down in my oil because it was drastic how long it took to get to temp over the new oil. I wish I had timed it, but didn't think that'd be something I would notice in any meaningful way.

Just one. Be prepared to hit the gas station more often. LOL
Make sure you map out fuel stops or top off frequently too or enjoy the excitement of reservation pricing and fuel quality. A mistake I've made only the once ;)

I topped off a lot, just in case my RHO died on the journey... I wanted plenty of fuel to signal fire. :ROFLMAO:

I focused on staying hydrated so it was a game of who had to stop more often - the truck or my bladder.

I did Blackstone for a few years on various trucks. It became a waste of money. Each report said everything was typical and I should put more miles on the truck before doing an analysis. I'll be curious if your experience is the same.

I've had similar results so this time I'm shotgunning to 3 dif labs to compare results, speed of return and hopefully find a clear winner for my lab going forward. They should be able to give much more than life left in oil. For a control I took it mostly mid stream and some end of stream then poured into 3 containers after a vigorous shaking.

I wish we had a dipstick, for this one experiment because I'm still cleaning up the mess. I did swap oil plug for quick drain going forward, so should be last RHO oil mess, barring catastrophic failure.

I do the quick valve on all my vehicles. What did you get and what was the tread?

ValvoMax, m14-1.5. Special thanks to them for sending it to me to try. Nice folks over there and I'm really liking their setup. I might be able to finally get away from the many black plastic receptacles I have laying around in various places.

Thanks. I have been using the Ez Oil Valve.

Just checked. I have the EZ-106 (14mm-1.5). Was for a 3.6 Jeep Gladiator.

Those are simpler and don't require a "key" but also far less robust. The VavloMax is Stainless Steel and has several failsafes (I'm all about redundancy). I wanted something stronger for my offroad application. Not that I ever had an issue with the decades old tried and true, but I've heard of failures, and I know how my luck works :ROFLMAO:

They only sent me the plug and drain hose, I'm gonna have to reach back out to them and try their bag system next.

Yea that’s my luck also, if something’s gonna go south its gonna happen to me. Older I get the less I wheel off road. This RHO will be 99.9% pavement princess.

The bag option seems interesting. I just always connect a tube to the extention so I dont make a freaking mess.

LOL, it can't go any worse than it did for me yesterday trying to get samples from 120+ degree oil. Burn ointment for the win ;)

Got MAJOR air today….getting my oil changed at 1k miles 😂

The service manager took it in and out knowing how anal I was after I spoke with my advisor. Love it!

Hey! Mine got a little lift job done too, but my service guy was acutely aware of how anal I was ;) Truck must have liked it, because afterwards he got wood :)
Little help up.webp

Is that jack maxed out and is it actually off the ground?
I don't want to talk about it . :ROFLMAO:

It was maxed out, and nope, front tires remained firmly planted, I pretty much just stretched the suspension like a light yawn but gave me enough space for my oil erector set.

First time under there, and I was less than thrilled to see the amount of corrosion and rust. It'll be a FULL Day project to work on all that.
