Software version 68733601AA - 98 MPH speed limiter

Oh boy, here goes my Agent Orange acting up again.

Thank you for conveying that. You're not stirring the pot. You're communicating what's going on. Whether something or nothing, it's valuable information to other Stellantis customers. That's the power of a hobbyist forum. This is how we advocate for ourselves.

Anyone who accuses you of stirring the pot is too stupid to know if they're punched, slapped, stabbed or sexually violated. They deserve to be walked around by the nose by auto manufacturers.

I hope it's nothing. Please keep us updated.
Right now, I'm just happy to have it back and make it to work with no CEL. I will definitely be asking the dealer and my case manager about it on Monday. Hopefully it just has the wrong software, and it can be corrected.

God my fingers crossed for you. THANK YOU!

I’m not sold on this being a mistake. This was intentional in my view, I think RAM is being sneaky about something they only know and not sharing the details.

Just a thought, but unless they did a reset it should have you vehicle top speed in the instrument panel. Would be able to see the top speed the truck has been driven at.

I'll take a look. It did get a new PCM and reprogram, so I'm sure it's gone.

I mean on the website top speed it’s advised as 118… false advertising? Not the anyone would probably but can’t you sue for misrepresentation or deception? What if you bought it specifically for drag racing on a endless runway but can’t go over 98mph 😂

Agreed. I also wonder if it’s legal to limit the speed to 98 without informing customers.

I REALLY hate to stir the pot on this again, but I finally got my truck back after 30+ days at the dealer and on this morning on the way to work, 330 am, clear freeway, the truck would not go over 98 MPH. I'm almost certain the one time I got to drive it before all this it would go over 100.........
I believe I read before that you were getting a new PCM? If so, then yes, your new pcm would have to have been flashed with this calibration since it’s the only flash available right now for the 50 state RHO’s.

Then this proves our original contention that RAM is not targeting export only vehicles, RAM has dialed back the limiter intentionally across all RHO’s. WTF is going on with this company in all its secrecy and deception??? Here we thought the HEMI dude coming back would have resolved these types of issues and provide more transparency. Apparently not.

We have absolutely no way of knowing if it was intentional, or if it’s a calibration release error that got mixed up with the actual recall calibration for exports.
Mixup in error is more plausible.
Crying that they did it purposely and nefariously is more of a conspiracy theory.

Hopefully it's an error. Is it plausible the technician just selected the wrong flash in a hurry, or are you saying that's currently the only one to select at the moment? Either way, I'd like to think it will be flashed back to 118 when a new flash is available.

That’s fair, but you can’t prove the other narrative either. It’s worth an investigation, clearly if this is in fact changing the speed limitation from a manufacturer’s advertisement and unbeknownst to the customer. They are not being transparent of this change, show us where they have communicated this to the consumer. They haven’t. That to me seems sketchy.

There’s no way for a tech to choose. The available flash is based on VIN.
What I’m saying is that stellantis probably screwed up when creating all these updated flashes, and used some coding from the export flash on the other market flashes. After all, that’s why there’s a recall for exports in the first place- because they erroneously flashed them with a non-export calibration.

Man I really hope you’re right.

Where are they advertising 118 mph top speed in sales brochure material? Do you have a link (I’m not referring to press releases, I’m referring to official sales brochure/order guide material that a customer would use to decide on a purchase). I’m just trying to figure out what would make the average person think that Ram has to provide a vehicle with a certain top speed.

I have seen the 118 somewhere, but I can no longer find it. I do see 0-100 time. 98 is close to 100, but not 100. lol

How many miles do you have on it? Wonder if it's potentially break in limited like they block the launch control

I was wondering that as well. I'm at 480, so I will know on the way home from work today.

Hoping it's something like this, anyway.

The other guy seemed pretty informed and sure this was only impacting exports, so I hope he's right.
